Morning Journal News

BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The South Range Local school board Thursday morning granted a temporary easement to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for its road improvement project on state Route 46 slated for this summer.

Schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham said that ODOT needed an easement on the east side of the road toward the athletic facility for some drainage and utility work associated with the project that will include the addition of a turning lane and pedestrian tunnel under Route 46 at the K-12 campus and athletic facility entrances.

The Eastgate Regional Council of Governments last February announced that it had secured $1.6 million for the project which is designed to improve the flow of traffic and increase pedestrian safety, according to ODOT. It is tentatively scheduled to be bid out in May and completed this summer. No school funds are being used for the project.
