Tigers run away from Reserve

BERLIN CENTER -The machine that is the Wellsville boys basketball team continues to roll - this time to the tune of a dominating 69-43 ITCL win Tuesday at Western Reserve.

"At the halfway mark of the season, it's what you want," said Wellsville coach Bug Thompson of his team's play. "They are playing really well right now. I've been pleased the last two games, both tonight and (last Saturday) against East Liverpool."

The visiting Tigers jumped out to an 18-9 advantage after the opening eight minutes and had the lead to 34-16 by halftime.

"The man-to-man pressure was working and we are just running the floor and sharing the ball," Thompson said.

Another 9-point third-quarter difference put things away as Wellsville cruised to its 10th victory in 11 games. Wellsville also maintained its perct ITCL mark, now at 6-0.

Nate Scott led all scorers with 20 points, which included 5 three-pointers. He added 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for a noce all-around game.

Seth Bradford also had the long ball going to the locals, hitting on a trio of treys and finishing with 19 points and 7 rebounds. The Tigers had 10 three-pointers as a team.

Also for Wellsville, Jordan Sloan scored 15 points with 5 assists and 4 steals; Brendon Carr had 8 points and 6 rebounds; and Camden Douglas totaled 7 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 blocks.

"Thought he might have 20 blocks the way he started at the beginning of the game," Thompson said. "Everyone played good tonight. I was happy with how Nate shot, Camden was running the show, Sloan and Carr played good defense, and Bradford also played good defense. We are playing as a team. It's the way we want to be playing."

Dalton Korda paced Reserve with 18 points.

In JV play, Jansen Stoakes scored 8 points and Sam McIntosh added 15 as Wellsville won 54-33.

The Tigers return to league play Friday, traveling to McDonald.
