Arlen Longanecker

SALISBURY - Rev. Arlen Elwood Longanecker, 73, of Salisbury, Pa., died Dec. 30, 2012 at home.

Born April 9, 1939 in Millersburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elwood J. and Lillian (Allison) Longanecker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Louise (Green) Longanecker.

He is survived by his children: Krista Falvey and her husband, Patrick, Cary, N.C.; Kara Hugunin and her husband Charles, Independence, Ky.; and Kevin Longanecker and his wife Janet, Kent, Ohio; seven grandchildren; brother: David Longanecker, North Manchester, Indiana; twin sister: Arlene Sloan, North Lima, Ohio; sisters: Bonita Rogers, Columbiana, Ohio; and Marilee Bodendorfer, Salem, Ohio.

He was a 1957 graduate of Springfield Local High School, Ohio.

Rev. Longanecker was currently the pastor at Hostetler Church of the Brethren, Meyersdale.

He was the former pastor of the following churches: Bristolville, Freeburg and Baltic Church of the Brethren, in Ohio, Conemaugh and Ridge Church of the Brethren, in Pennsylvania and Astoria Church of the Brethren, in Illinois.

He believed that a relationship with Christ was the most important relationship to have and he truly enjoyed serving Christ and the people.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Friends will also be received from 9 a.m. until service is conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, Columbiana, Ohio. Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating.

Interment will follow at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Arrangements by William Rowe Price Funeral Home, Inc. ( with the local arrangements handled by Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home.
