Super Bowl chili

It's time for planning Super Bowl parties and even though none of our local teams are competing this year that's no reason not to enjoy the game and all of the fabulous food involved. Chili is included on many Super Bowl party menus. If you're not a fan of the super hot and spicy varieties, you might enjoy my homemade recipe which is based on the way my mother made it when we were kids. Here's the recipe:

Saute 2 pounds of ground beef, one medium onion and a small to medium green pepper in a skillet until the meat is brown and the veggies are tender. Drain and place in large pan or stockpot. Add one small can light kidney beans (two if you like beans, I don't) One 15 oz can chopped tomatoes with onion and green pepper 3 cans tomato soup At least 3 Tbs chili powder (more if you like it spicy) Two Tbs sugar (I like mine sweet).

Cook for about 2 hours and serve. Serves six.
