To the editor:
The 22nd annual Veterans Appreciation Picnic was held Saturday, July 12th, in the Calcutta Square in Calcutta, Ohio with 650 veterans and guests in attendance.
Two WWII Veterans, Roy Shetler, 99, of New Waterford, Ohio and Dohrman Rosenlieb, 98, of East Liverpool, Ohio were recognized.
A picnic lunch was served to attendees and music was provided by Dave & Casie. The American and POW flags were presented “Special Delivery” via Jimmy Drummond and Padrick Carnahan from Skydive Rick’s Alliance Sport Parachute Club in Petersburg, Ohio.
The Tri-State Burial Group presented military honors and Kevan Wain of the Lisbon VA office was master of ceremonies. Chissy Griffin, commander of the Leetonia American Legion, provided the invocation.
The committee would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers that make this event a success.
