Address the threat of hacking
About four times a week, on average, hackers gain access to information in the federal HeathCare.gov website, the Government Accountability Office revealed last week. Millions of people seeking information about health insurance or signing up for it use the website, often providing highly personal information.
Have problems uncovered by the GAO been rectified? No. Security flaws “will likely continue to jeopardize the confidentiality, integrity and availability of HealthCare.gov,” the GAO admitted.
Virtually no government website, including those storing highly secret information about American spies, is entirely secure. Members of Congress should make it a priority to insist the government do more to address the situation, and soon.
