Virginia L. Smith

NEW WATERFORD — Virginia L. Smith, 94, passed away Nov. 30, 2025, at the Christian House Assisted Living and Healthcare in East Palestine.

Virginia was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Darlington, Pa., daughter of the late Samuel and Lillian Benfelt McRoberts.

She was raised on a dairy farm in Enon Valley but was a longtime resident of New Waterford. Virginia was a member of New Waterford United Methodist Church. She loved to bake anything, but most especially pies. Her greatest love was for her family and grandchildren, and she was known for putting everyone before herself.

Virginia is survived by three sons, Tim (Lorraine) Smith of Columbiana, Terry (Debra) Smith of Columbiana, Troy Smith of Salem; son-in-law, Daniel Heck of Columbiana; 11 grandchildren, Alicia, Ryan, Marissa, Nicolle, Clinton, Jessica, Brandon, Brittany, Sabrina, Sara, and Kristy as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Lloyd Smith in 2001; a daughter, Tammy Heck; brother, Robert McRoberts; and a sister, Vivian Pulleo.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services at the Linsley Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor John Ciardi officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
