Grace and Dale Diddle
Dale A. Diddle Sr. was born in East Liverpool and was the fourth of five children of Verna Frasier and Edward Diddle. Grace A. McCauley was born in Canton, the youngest of seven children and was the daughter of Grace Millbaugh and Everett McCauley.
Married in 1954, Dale and Grace spent their lives in private business and public service. Dale worked at Crucible Steel until the early 1980s when he was laid off. As a result, he started Diddle’s TV, Antenna and Satellite Systems with Grace working by his side as the business record keeper. They also owned and managed several residential rental properties in the local area. In addition to his businesses, Dale was a member of the Beaver Local school board and served as a high school wrestling referee for a number of years. Grace faithfully served by Dale’s side as a homemaker, hostess and volunteer. Remembered as a jokester and dedicated servant, Dale served his community in leadership roles with both the Calcutta Rotary Club and Salvation Army of East Liverpool. Dale and Grace also volunteered with the Beaver Creek State Park Historical Society.
Despite the businesses they ran together, Dale and Grace always found time for travel and leisure. As a young man, Dale developed a love of horses which carried over into their married life where they kept and rode horses in their spare time. Dale co-founded the Tri-State Boot and Saddle Club where they spent many weekends with their son, and area youth, showing horses.
Business and pleasure trips took Dale and Grace across the United States to favorite places such as Alaska, Nevada, Oklahoma and Tennessee. For their 60 th anniversary, they spent time traveling through Germany, a life-long dream they shared.
Grace passed into the arms of her Lord on Jan. 12, 2024. Dale was reunited with his bride in Heaven on Feb. 17, 2024.
Dale and Grace were preceded in death by their parents, siblings and son, Dale Jr. They are lovingly survived by their granddaughter, Sharon (West) Marble, great-grandchildren Aurora and Zachary as well as a number of extended family members.
Gifts of remembrance can be sent to the Calcutta Rotary Club, East Liverpool Salvation Army or the Tri-State Boot and Saddle Club.
