Zebediah L. Snyder

2006-2023

Zebediah L. Snyder, age 17 of Kensington, died Thursday, April 13, 2023 in Salem Regional Medical Center following a short illness. He was born Feb. 18, 2006 in Salem to Vernon and Melissa (Sanor) Snyder. He is a Junior at United Local High School where he is Treasurer of the FFA. He is a member of the Sticks and Stones 4-H Club where he raised market turkeys and hogs, and Boy Scout Troop 150 in Minerva where he was a Life Scout and 5th year pipestone holder. He is a lifetime member of the New Alexander Christian Church where he was a Jr. Deacon. He works for the Minerva Dairy in Minerva. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trucks and the outdoors and hanging out with his friends.

To his family, Zeb was a quiet, simple soul who brought a sense of peace with him no matter where he was in life. Although sometimes short on words, he understood the complexity of existence and knew to have faith in God above all else when difficulties arose. To his friends, Zeb was a shining light of positivity that brought so many together. He had the ability to touch the lives of his schoolmates in ways that preserved the most important aspects of friendship. During his free time, Zeb loved being in the outdoors, learning the “rugged man ways” taught by his father and older brother. The knowledge he gained in the wilderness formed him into the man he was: a man of mental fortitude, physical strength, and spiritual courage. From being able to wake himself up for school and cook his own meals, to being a valued employee who could always be counted on, the independence that he developed from these experiences could be seen by everyone who knew him. Additionally, he loved to pass the time listening to podcasts of various topics and learning about the history of humankind. He understood that the mistakes made in our history could be repeated if certain values in life such as loyalty, selflessness, and reverence were not respected; Pushing him to become the best possible version of himself. After high school, Zeb wished to apply to a Heavy Machinery Operator program and fulfill his childhood dream of working with his “Mighty Machines” in real life. He and his older brother, Gabe had plans to run a business together someday, combining what they both loved into a single passion.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Emma Snyder of Minerva, brother, Gabe Snyder of Kensington, maternal grandmother, Darlene Sanor of East Rochester, paternal grandparents, Walter and Linda Snyder of Hanoverton, nephew, Brantley Cox of Minerva. He is preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Leroy Sanor.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the New Alexander Christian Church with Rev. Dave Napier officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at the New Alexander Christian Church. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
