BOARDMAN — Jim Hicks, 72, of Lisbon went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman.
Jim was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 15, 1949. He lived his entire life in Columbiana County. Jim was a graduate of Beaver Local High School class of 1967. Jim was an Army veteran proudly serving his country on an extended tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969- 1970 in the 25th Infantry Division. He was a member of The Living Well Church. Jim worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was employed by Parsons Coal, St. Clair Township, Columbiana County Highway Department, W.B. Coal, McGuiness Brothers, Mahoning Landfill and National Heat Exchange. In 1998 Jim began his own excavating business Jim Hicks Excavating which he operated until 2011.
Preceding Jim in death were his adoptive parents the late Ralph and Nellie M. (Young) Hicks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, whom he married May 28, 1971, Barb (Burlingame) Hicks; son Jason Hicks and his wife Kelly of Calcutta; daughter Jamie Meek and her husband Jeff of Negley and six grandchildren Kendra Meek and her fiance Ben Haddad of Pittsburgh, Moriah Meek of Negley, Sawyer Meek of Boardman, Lianna Meek of Negley, Reagan Hicks of Calcutta and Gretchen Hicks of Calcutta; best friend of over 50 years Ken Burlingame and his wife Barbara of Lakeland, Fla. and his two pups Sophie and Zoey.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Dirk Hall of The Living Well Church will conduct a service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.
