Robert Bryan Hoffmaster

SUMTER, S.C. — Robert Bryan Hoffmaster died in Sumter, S.C. on February 3, 2020 at the age of 61.

Born in Salem, Ohio, Robert was the son of Patricia and the late Donald Hoffmaster of Leetonia.

Graduating from Crestview High School in 1977, Robert worked at the Franklin Furniture Company in Columbiana before entering the US Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 2003. He was a passionate Crew Chief in the F-117A Stealth Fighter Program and served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Northern Watch with the 77th Fighter Squadron.

Surviving Robert are his mother, Patricia, of Leetonia; three sons, Kenan Hoffmaster and his wife Evelyn of Sumter, S.C., Mathew Hoffmaster and his girlfriend Dakota of Florida, and Micah Hoffmaster of Sumter, S.C.; three daughters, Kendra Green and her husband Wilbert of Sumter, S.C., Kayla Yelton and her husband Justin of Camden, S.C., and Anyssa Hoffmaster of Sumter, S.C.; a sister, Deborah Hoffmaster of Leetonia; a brother, Randall Hoffmaster of Suffolk, Va.; and seven grandchildren, Austin, Destiny, Madison, Josiah, Gabriel, Michael and Able.

Preceding Robert in death were his father, Donald and his son, Aiden.

A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held on Saturday, August 7 at the Winona Friends Church, 4615 Whinnery Road, Salem, Ohio 44460. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. with the celebration beginning at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary. The American Legion will perform Military Honors at 3 p.m. followed by a meal at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations for children’s services be made in Robert’s name to The Winona Friends Church or The Brightside Project (PO Box 314, Salem, OH 44460).
