Donald ‘Don’ Jackson

CALCUTTA — Donald M. “Don” Jackson, 87, of Calcutta, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, in the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born June 15, 1932, in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Mildred H. (Wagner) Jackson.

He attended Wellsville High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a chief warrant officer from 1949 until his retirement in 1971, during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was then employed as a steelworker at Timet until his retirement in 1990. He was Protestant by faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Ewing of Wellsville; a son, Donald Jackson and his wife, Judy, of St. Mary’s, Ga.; two sisters, Carol Hosler of Calcutta and Sue (Wayne) Boley of Lisbon; a brother, Raymond Jackson of Wellsville; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian M. (Lysle) Jackson; a great-grandson, and sister, Margaret “Peggy” Kelley.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor George White officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at 10:50 am. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
