Charles ‘Fred’ McKinnon, Sr.

NEGLEY — Charles F. “Fred” McKinnon, Sr., 71, of Negley, died Sunday evening, Oct. 20, 2019 at home following a five-year battle with cancer.

Born in East Liverpool, October 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles R. “Pete” McKinnon and Rose Mary Garns McKinnon.

He owned and operated McKinnon Motors for many years. He attended the Lord’s Community Church and recently had been associated with Word of Life Chapel in Wellsville.

Survivors include his wife, Janet L. Hawk McKinnon; a daughter, Kriss (Randy) Hissam of Lisbon; a son, David Hawk of Negley; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Sue Allison, Kathy Kinder, Jane Duffield, Samantha Sonntog and Vickie Hanlon; three brothers, Pete and Arthur McKinnon and Ron Phillips; as well as a stepmother, Neva McKinnon.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles F. “Charlie” McKinnon, Jr., and Raymond S. Hawk, Sr.; and a brother, David A. McKinnon.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where Pastor Harold “Bud” Stull will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
