Betty Shaffer

SALEM–Betty Lou Shaffer, a resident of Salem, Ohio, and Venice, Florida, was called home by our Lord Sunday, March 10th at the age of 79.

A former long time resident of Wellsville Ohio, Betty was an active member of the community and her church, serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce and instrumental in passing the levy for the high school.

As a woman of deep faith Betty led bible studies, Sunday school, and vacation bible school in various churches in the area. She served as a scout leader and chaired many committees to benefit the community.

Born Feb. 11, 1940 in East Liverpool, her parents were Paul C Knox and Ethel Varner Knox.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Larry D. Shaffer. Additionally, she leaves behind six children, Heide Fralic, Mike and John Miller, Amy Zarlinga, and Larry Jr. and Christopher Shaffer, as well as 11 beloved grandchildren.

We were fortunate to have known her as a loving mother, a supportive sister, a caring daughter and a joyful grandmother. More importantly, she touched Larry’s life as his loving wife. Most importantly, she was a Christian.

Memorial services are scheduled for March 30th at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1100 Center Road, Venice , FL, 34293 and also on May 25th at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth, Salem OH 44460.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund of either of those churches in honor of Betty.
