Charles Sturtz

EAST LIVERPOOL Charles W. “Chuck” Sturtz, 84, died 7:16 a.m. Wednesday at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932 in Cumberland, Md., the son of the late William and Ruth Gilmore Sturtz.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Smiths Ferry United Methodist Church.

He had worked for Borden Dairy, and later with B.O.C. in Newell, W.Va., retiring in 1997.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Earl Joseph “Joe” McDevitt; four sisters, Wanda, Dorothy, Betty and Jane; and four brothers, Dale, Joe, Paul and Jim.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Childs Sturtz; a daughter, Kathy Costello of Boardman; a son, Dave Sturtz of Youngstown; two stepdaughters, Linda Ronshak of Westlake, La., and Janet Guillory of Lake Charles, La.; two sisters, Helen Sturtz and Mary Stratford; three brothers, Rich Sturtz, Bob Sturtz and Raymond Sturtz; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Adkins officiating. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be 3-8 p.m. Monday.
