East Palestine
— Ricardo Gonzales, no age or address listed, was cited for having an open container of intoxicating liquor in a motor vehicle following a traffic stop in the area of Park Avenue and Prospect Street at 1:32 a.m. Friday in which he was a passenger.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration in the area of Park and Glenwood avenues at 8:14 p.m. Thursday. Officers noticed nervous behavior by the vehicle occupants and a K-9 conducted a search of the vehicle. Officers seized suspected narcotics and paraphernalia from inside the vehicle. The vehicle owner, who was not identified in the report, was cited for expired registration while the driver, who also was not identified in the report, was cited for no driver’s license. The matter is under investigation.
— Anthony Gardner, 30, East Palestine, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to the 200 block of South Market Street at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a domestic dispute.
— Officers responded to a North Market Street business at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a theft. The matter is under investigation.
— A North Liberty Street resident reported at 2:26 p.m. Tuesday his juvenile niece was throwing things and hitting her brother.
— An East Palestine Elementary administrator reported at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday a male was at the school to complete work for a contractor, but had been denied access by the school’s instant background system. The male denied having any questionable background, but an investigation found the information to be correct.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Howard Avenue at 12:32 a.m. Friday where a resident reported she was threatened on Snapchat and wanted it documented due to an ongoing dispute.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 3:02 p.m. Thursday in reference to a patient who had gotten physical with two nursing assistants, who just wanted the incident documented.
— Kenneth Hull, 43, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for cocaine possession following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday.
— Karalee Yerkey, 26, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension following a two-vehicle crash on private property in the 200 block of East Second Street at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday.
— An officer spoke with an individual in the 100 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday who said an individual who had been trespassed from the business had stepped onto the property, picked up cones and placed them in front of the business’s entry door. The officer reviewed footage of the individual conducting the actions.
— A Barclay Avenue resident reported on station at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday in reference to identity fraud and theft in which someone in Virginia had gained access to his bank account. Local police in Virginia were able to arrest the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday and found a male in a vehicle deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male was transported to the Salem hospital morgue and officers contacted the Howland police to notify next of kin.
— An officer accompanied Salem police detectives and child protective services to a residence in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday regarding the initiation of an investigation. Child protective services arranged for the juvenile in question to be placed at another location while the investigation was conducted.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday in reference to an individual who had been terminated and threatened to return to the business. Officers found the individual was not present and advised the caller to contact officers if the individual did return.
— Debra Mangas, 70, Salem, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign following a two-vehicle crash at North Union Avenue and East Third Street at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday in which she was traveling north and allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign, striking a vehicle driven by Michael Muerth, 56, Salem. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday to assist medical personnel with a combative male. Officers spoke with the male who was no longer combative and he was transported to the hospital without incident.
Leetonia
— Steven May, no address listed, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Nov. 19 near state Route 344 and Industry Street on charges of OVI , after a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Upon contact with May, the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana, which May admitted last investigating around five hours earlier. During an inventory of his vehicle, the officer found two burnt joints and multiple sandwich bags of marijuana. Additional charges may be pending after receipt of lab results.
— A Leetonia man reported telecommunication harassment by his ex-girlfriend and her father, both of Murrysville, Pa., at 8:24 p.m. Nov. 16. Both departments are investigating.
Columbiana
— Deborah Williams, of West Mifflin, Pa. was cited at 12:40 a.m. Nov. 14 for driving without an operator’s license in the 1300 block of state Route 14
— Marcus Petricci, of Farmington, Pa. was cited at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 9 near state Route 14 and Creek Road for driving without an operator’s license.
