Sheriff Reports

— The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office called at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday to request a Columbiana County sheriff’s deputy make contact with a person on Lowmiller Road, West Township, due to the person being involved in a traffic accident in Carroll County and leaving the scene. A deputy had no contact with the person or the vehicle on the property, but spoke with his girlfriend who advised she will contact him and have him call the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

— A woman on Parkview Drive, Center Township reported at 8:34 p.m. Tuesday that she could hear someone under her residence stealing the pipes. A deputy checked underneath the modular home, the property and area, but found no one.

— A deputy was dispatched at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday to Subway, Westville Lake Road, Knox Township, to check the welfare of the staff due to a man allegedly causing a disturbance. The deputy spoke with staff members who advised no one was causing a disturbance and there were no issues.

Washingtonville

— Officers performed a welfare check at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 on High Street, after an older neighbor appeared disoriented. After contact, everyone appeared lucid, so they cleared.

Patrol

— Steven Boggs, of Austintown, was cited for failure to control at 11:07 p.m. Oct. 31 in Salem Township, after losing control of his vehicle while southeast bound on state Route 344, going off the right side of the road, striking three mailboxes, a culvert and a tree before overturning his vehicle which caught fire.

— Cody Oldaker, of Malvern, was cited for failure to control at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 7 in Fairfield Township. He was northbound on state Route 164 when he traveled off the right side of the road, hit two signs and a ditch.

— Dominic Hanks, of Alliance, was cited at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 12 for a right of way violation, after he pulled into the path of Elizabeth Maendel, also of Alliance, on Route 62 from a stop sign before it was safe for him to do so and was struck.

— No charges were noted for Darryl Miller, of New Garden Road in Salem, at 10:08 a.m, Nov. 4 in Butler Township. Miller was eastbound on Georgetown Road when he went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

— Albert Anderson, of Kelly Park Road in Columbiana, was not cited after his vehicle, while westbound on state Route 154, caught fire at 5:41 p.m. Nov. 5 in Middleton Township.

— Terry Shasheen, of Leslie Road in Lisbon, was cited at 3:20 p.m. Nov. 15 in Elkrun Township for failure to control, after his eastbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on state Route 154, traveled off the road and struck a mailbox, a pole, a tree and a ditch before overturning.

Salem

–Officer on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:29 a.m. Thursday observed two people in the dumpster behind a business. Officers spoke with them and advised them that the business does not want anyone taking anything from the dumpster, and they went on their way.

–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:19 p.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that multiple juveniles were messing around in the store. Officers spoke with the juveniles, who were in the back of the store looking for a lost phone. They were unable to locate the cell phone and were sent on their way.

–Officers on patrol in the 900 block of East State Street at 4:20 p.m. Thursday observed a motor vehicle accident. A vehicle driven by Jessica Lodge, 40, Salem, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Penny Barker, 61, Salem. Officers documented the damage, and Lodge was cited with assured clear distance ahead.

–Officers responded to the 600 block of Aetna Street at 8:20 p.m. Thursday for a report of telecommunications harassment of their juvenile daughter. The caller advised that another juvenile has been bullying their daughter online by posting YouTube videos. The matter is under investigation.

–Officers assisted Perry Township Officers with an OVI arrest at the police department at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday. Officers stood by while Perry offered the person in question a breath test and finished paperwork.

–Officers took a report of assault from Salem West Healthcare Center regarding an incident which occurred on Saturday at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday. The incident involved two patients with dementia and had not been observed by staff, leaving the series of events unclear. One of the parties had entered the other’s room and been struck. The staff needed a report number for their records.

–Officers took a report of a stolen scooter at the police department at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday. Officers checked the area of East Pershing Street and Woodland Avenue for the scooter but did not locate it.

–Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller was advised by a third party that a neighbor was sick and had been making statements about harming herself. Officers spoke with the person in question, who was in good spirits and also had a friend over. Both advised that no such comments had been made.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke with the caller who advised that several juveniles have been causing problems in the parking lot and trying to get money from people. The juveniles had left prior to the officers’ arrival, and the caller was advised to contact officers if the juveniles returned.

–Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday for a reported medical problem. Officers spoke with the person in question, who was subsequently transported to the emergency room by ambulance for evaluation.

–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday for a traffic stop. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

–Officers spoke with a person who was observed to be distraught in the 800 block of East State Street at 1:18 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised that he was OK and was just dealing with personal issues. Officers advised them to call if they needed anything.

–Officers on patrol in the 600 block of Benton Road at 12 p.m. Tuesday observed suspicious activity and notified the Perry Township Police Department as it was in its jurisdiction. Officers also intervened until Perry Township Officers arrived.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Sixth Street at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller was concerned that a person was just sitting in a vehicle in front of their residence. Officers spoke with the person in question, who advised that he was waiting on a nearby neighbor to return as he was doing work inside the house.

–The School Resource Officer was advised by School Administrators of an issue with a statement made by a student at 9:59 a.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the student, and their father was called to respond to the school. The father agreed to take their child to Akron Children’s Hospital to get checked out and address the issue.

–Officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue at 7:56 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible domestic. Officers were advised that the incident had only been a verbal argument by both parties. Officers advised them to stay away from one another.

–Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:37 p.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that someone they believed to be an ex had knocked on their back door. Officers checked the area and advised the caller of their options. An extra watch was placed on the residence.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 9:16 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers found nothing to be wrong with the person in question and advised the caller to leave the area, and that the person in question would contact them at their convenience.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 8:38 p.m. Monday for a reported noise complaint. Officers advised the person in question to keep it down for the night.
