Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 5:34 p.m. Thursday to Cameron Road, Madison Township regarding a suspicious vehicle, but nothing out of the ordinary was observed when the deputy checked the area.
— Juveniles were reported at 4:06 p.m. Thursday driving golf carts up and down the road and not stopping at stop signs in the area of Woodsdale Road and state Route 172, Hanover Township. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.
— Deputies responded at 2:43 a.m. Thursday to an address on state Route 154, Lisbon for a domestic violence situation involving a juvenile assaulted by a relative. The offender reportedly ran off and was hiding. Juveniles were removed from the home and placed with family members not on the same property. A warrant was issued for the offender.
— A deputy was dispatched at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday to Timashamie Campground, Georgetown Road, Butler Township, for a welfare check on a juvenile with a bloody nose and a belief that a relative assaulted him. A deputy spoke with the relative, who said the juvenile gets nosebleeds all the time and he was not assaulted. The deputy spoke with the juvenile, who was fine.
— Gary M. Copley, Teegarden Road, Hanover Township, came to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday to turn himself in for an active warrant issued by the Youngstown State University Police Department in Mahoning County. A deputy took Copley into custody and he was transported to the Columbiana/Mahoning county line where he was turned over to Youngstown State University Police personnel.
— A Sherwood Road, Yellow Creek Township resident reported at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday that his credit card was stolen.
— Debris was reported in the roadway at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday on Haiti Road, Washington Township. A deputy checked the area, but did not find anything.
— A shooting complaint was reported at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Steubenville Pike Road, Wayne Township. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.
— A deputy and personnel from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded at 10:44 p.m. Monday to an active domestic in the area of West Main Street, Salineville, The deputy spoke with both parties involved and advised them on how to proceed. Both parties signed a domestic refusal form.
— A 911 hang up call was reported on Woodside Drive, Butler Township at 9:56 p.m. Monday. A deputy attempted contact at the door with no answer. Nothing else out of the ordinary was observed.
— A sex offense was reported at 3:02 p.m. Monday on Lodge Road, Salem Township. The report said an investigation was pending and the incident was juvenile-related, with no further information on the report.
— Deputies were dispatched at 4:31 p.m. July 6 to Lowmiller Road, West Township for a domestic incident. Both parties said they did not want to pursue charges and a domestic violence refusal was signed. Both parties went their separate ways.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East Ninth Street at 12:45 a.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that someone was walking around the school parking lot and appeared to be drunk. Officers spoke with the person, who was on the sidewalk in front of their home and not on school property and advised that he was just on the phone walking around. Officers did not observe any signs of impairment.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a juvenile had made comments about harming themself and the fire department and EMT responded and transported them.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that her daughter was off her medication and punching the walls. Officers spoke with the daughter who advised that she was okay but mad at her mother. The fire department and EMT arrived to evaluate them. They were deemed okay but advised to call the next day to get back on her medication.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that a vehicle was northbound on Depot Road and the passenger was yelling for help. Officers located the vehicle, and the passenger advised that she and her boyfriend were in an argument, but she never yelled for help. Everything was deemed okay.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported child custody dispute. The caller advised that he went to pick up his children, but the mother refused to exchange custody. The caller was advised to speak with an attorney and make the court aware of the issue.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday for a report of bad checks. The caller advised that two woman had cashed paychecks which were later found to be fake. Officers collected the pertinent information, and the caller was advised to call back if the women returned.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person loitering in the area. Officers located the person sleeping on the deck at a nearby residence who advised they were fine. The residents advised they knew the man and had given him permission to be there.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile experiencing a medical issue. Officers spoke with the juvenile and first responders were called to the scene. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that he observed a person on his front porch through his camera while he was not home. The person was advised to stay off the caller’s property.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties, who were intoxicated, and were advised that the female half was trying to leave the residence and the male half did not want them to leave or drive. The female half claimed that the male half had shoved her, and he advised that he had pushed her back into the house to prevent her from driving before taking and hiding all the car keys. No injuries were observed on the woman, and she was offered medical attention but declined. Both parties were advised to go to their separate areas for the evening and to sleep it off.
— Officers on patrol in the 100 block of West State Street at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday observed a wanted person operating a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot and spoke with the driver, Edward Pittman, 42, Salem, confirming the warrant and taking him into custody. During the incident K-9 Chaz alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle recovered it and was warned of a wrongful entrustment violation if she let a non-licensed driver operate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with a resident who advised the wanted person was there. Officers confirmed the warrant and took Melissa Brink, Salem, into custody without issue and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:50p.m. Tuesday for a reported theft. The caller advised that he had been working out when an unknown person took money and his debit card from his wallet without his knowledge or permission. Officers advised the caller of the options for dealing with the situation. Officers also spoke with the manager who advised that they had other thefts reported recently and would review the security footage to attempt to identify the person in question.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers checked the area, but nobody was located.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Continental Drive at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday for a report of theft. The caller believed that a firearm was stolen from his house sometime during June. He advised that he was still looking for the serial number for the firearm and would provide it when he found it. He also provided officers with a description of the firearm for the report.
— Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street at 4:14 a.m. Friday observed a water main break. The utilities department was contacted and responded.
— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 3:09 a.m. Friday for a reported person to be removed. An employee at the business requested the person leave and he was refusing. Officers advised them that they were trespassed from the business, and he walked away before a written trespass form was completed. They also left multiple items in the room which were later returned when officers located them.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that someone broke the glass on the storm door of their residence. Officers took photos of the damage and advised them to call if they had any more issues.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 10:02 p.m. Thursday to serve an arrest warrant. It was advised that the person in question was currently out of state.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 9:22 p.m. Thursday for an unknown disturbance. The caller advised that there was a lot of commotion with people screaming and dogs barking. Contact was made at the residence, and they were advised of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West State Street at 8:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of juveniles riding scooters in the roadway. Officers checked the area but did not locate them.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Pearce Circle for a reported solicitor at 8:14 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with a man who advised that it was one of the sales team for his company and they were advised that no soliciting is allowed in the city.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 6:18 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with taking a person into custody. The person was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Columbiana County Jail, and $80 was seized as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 4:43 p.m. Thursday to check for a man with an active warrant. Officers located the man, Allen Vanconey, 30, Salem, taking him into custody and transporting them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman was walking with them that was acting disorderly and yelling at the children. Upon making contact officers found that the matter was a misunderstanding and there were no issues.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Summit Street at 3:59 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that she had a bicycle and a lawn mower stolen from her backyard. Officers collected the information, and the incident is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 12:23p.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle had been parked on the side of the road and had not been moved in a year. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who advised it had been broken down for a month and the part needed was on back order. Officers advised him to have the vehicle moved in a timely manner.
