County Sheriff

— A deputy was dispatched at 7:50 a.m. Thursday to Salmar Drive outside Salem for a vehicle parked in the cul-de-sac despite a posted sign for no parking. The resident was contacted and agreed to move the vehicle to the driveway.

— A disabled vehicle was found on U.S. Route 30 at 10:06 p.m. Monday. The operator advised the engine locked up and he was unable to control the vehicle. He was advised the Ohio State Highway Patrol had been notified. The Lisbon officer remained to conduct traffic control while a trooper performed a field sobriety test on the driver, who was determined to be over the legal limit and charged by the trooper at the scene.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 12:57 p.m. Sept. 9 stopping in the road on Schneider Road, Hanover Township and photographing a woman’s kids playing in the front yard. The woman said this same person had been around in the past exhibiting the same behavior. A deputy responded but did not find the vehicle.

— A woman on Stump Road, Minerva reported at 11:04 a.m. Sept. 9 reported her gazebo blew away in a storm earlier in the month. The gazebo was located in a nearby soy bean field and before she was able to retrieve it, the neighbors removed it from the field. She believed it was posted on Facebook Marketplace by her neighbor, who she was afraid to confront. A deputy made contact with the neighbors and they said they had the gazebo which they located in a nearby field. The deputy told them the owner wanted it back and they said they would return it.

— A deputy was dispatched at 11:26 a.m. Sept. 8 to Pine Hollow Road, Elkrun Township, where an elderly man had walked away from his house and may have Alzheimer’s. Then the deputy was advised the man was at the food and fuel market in Rogers. The wife had already arrived and had the man placed in her vehicle. She told the deputy that Hospice is supposed to send a caretaker and equipment to monitor if he leave the residence.

Goshen

— Jesse James, 45, Columbiana, was cited for speeding after his westbound vehicle on Alliance Salem Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday.

— Herbert Goetz, 72, North Benton, was cited for speeding after her southbound vehicle on South Pricetown Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 8:59 a.m. Wednesday.

— Lona Wells, 56, Beloit, was cited for speeding after her northbound vehicle on Main Street was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday.

— Michael Flanagan, 76, North Canton, was cited for speeding after his westbound vehicle on Alliance Salem Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday.

— Jermaine Harris, 35, Akron, was cited for speeding after his southbound vehicle on Main Street was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday.

— Hady Naser, 19, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, was cited for speeding after his eastbound vehicle on Salem Unity Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 3:21 a.m. Tuesday

— Ashley McFall, 30, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension after she was observed driving eastbound on Alliance Salem Road and was recognized by officers from a recent traffic stop for driving under suspension at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

— Jeremy Hanson, 43, Beloit, was cited for driving under suspension after his vehicle on Main Street was observed with expired plates at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10.

— Amee Pilcher, 62, Leetonia, was cited for speeding after her eastbound vehicle on South Range Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 4:05 p.m. Sept. 10.

— Jenna Strausbaugh, 28, Salem, was cited for failure to reinstate and unsafe vehicle after her westbound vehicle on Salem Alliance Road was observed with a large crack in the windshield and broken off rear-view mirror at 2 p.m. Sept. 10.

— Shane Burkhart, 35, Washingtonville, was cited for speeding after his northbound vehicle on South Pricetown Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 9:48 a.m. Sept. 10.

— Kevin Gulling, 21, East Canton, was cited for driving under suspension after his southbound vehicle on South Pricetown Road was observed with only one working headlight at 11:27 p.m. Sept. 9.

— Rugola Danae, 23, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, was cited for a stop sign violation after her eastbound vehicle on West Middletown Road failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven northbound on state Route 14 by Devon Ketchum, 41, Salem, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Both drivers were transported to the Salem Regional medical Center for treatment by the Damascus Fire Department. Ketchum had suspected minor injuries, while Rugola had suspected serious injuries.

New Waterford

— Officers responded to the 3200 block of Creek Road at 9:37 a.m. Thursday in reference to an unknown man trying to abduct a female juvenile. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers spoke with an individual on station at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday regarding fraud with his iPad.

— Officers responded to the 3300 block of Pinewood Drive at 7:27 a.m. Sept. 11 in reference to a juvenile refusing to go to school. Officers spoke with the juvenile, who agreed to go to school.

— Officers responded to the 3200 block of Creek Road at 2:33 a.m. Sept. 10 in reference to an individual who left a local hospital against medical advice. Officers spoke with the individual who was okay.

Salem

— Officers responded to the area of Homewood Avenue at 3:11 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious vehicle sitting in the area. The caller advised that they did not recognize the vehicle from the neighborhood, and that it departed prior to officers’ arrival. The caller was advised to contact officers if the vehicle returned.

— Officers on patrol in the 900 block of Liberty Street at 1:15 p.m. Friday observed a vehicle parked in a no parking zone. Officers contacted the owner at 927 Liberty Street and the vehicle was moved.

— Officers responded to the high school at 12:35 p.m. to assist the school resource officer. Officers were advised that a student had brought a knife to school and officers subsequently took him into custody, transporting him to the police department for processing. Once processing was completed officers transported the juvenile to the Tobin Center charged with Illegal Conveyance or Possession of Deadly Weapon or Dangerous Ordnance in School Safety Zone.

— Officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Friday for a report of two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot. Officers made contact with a man and woman, advising them of the complaint. They advised that they were on their lunch break and just relaxing until they had to go back.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Fair Avenue at 11:47 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that his juvenile daughter had made threats of harming herself. Officers spoke with the juvenile, who advised that she hasn’t been taking her medications. The caller requested her daughter be taken to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman, and EMT transported the juvenile.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:48 a.m. Friday for a barking dog complaint. Officers spoke with a man who advised he was just about to take the dog inside.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 9:49 a.m. Friday for a report of a dog at large. Officers checked the area but did not locate any dogs. Officers later identified the dog’s residence in the 200 block of Highland Avenue and confirmed the owner had it back inside. The owner advised that a lawn worker had accidentally let the dog out of the fenced yard, but they had secured the dog only a few minutes later.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Second Street at 9:37 a.m. Friday for a medical call. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:57 a.m. Friday for a report of drug paraphernalia located in the bathroom. Officers confiscated the paraphernalia and destroyed it.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township officers with a man with an active arrest warrant. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fourth Street at 5:36 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers were advised by the Salem Regional Medical Center that a mother and child had left the hospital and the child needed to be transported to Akron Children’s Hospital. Officers made contact with the mother and advised her of the complaint. She advised she would transport her child to Akron Children’s.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 3:33 p.m. Thursday for an animal complaint. The caller advised that one of his neighbors had small rabbits that should be in a larger cage. Officers spoke with the owner, advising they would need a larger cage. Officers will also have the humane agent check on the welfare of the animals.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 1:12 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised that she believed a car had attempted to strike her while she was walking through the parking lot. Officers advised her of the options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 11:43 a.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious objects. Officers took possession of the items for disposal.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:49 a.m. Thursday to report her wallet had been stolen. The woman advised that she thought she left it in a shopping cart at a local business. Officers went to the business and reviewed video footage. Officers could not see from the footage if the wallet was left in the cart or if someone had taken it out due to the cart’s location in the parking lot.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 10:26 a.m. Thursday for an animal complaint. Officers were advised of a dog outside the residence barking. Officers spoke with the owner who advised that she was not at home but would get someone to take the dog inside.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 12:49 a.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic and found both people involved to be calm and separated. Both people involved said the incident was verbal only and no physical violence occurred.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:42 p.m. Friday in reference to a blown transformer. The fire department did not find the transformer to be causing any issues and Ohio Edison was contacted to assess the incident.

— An officer responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 6:56 p.m. Friday where a resident reported someone had stolen a washer and dryer to be scrapped from his garage. The resident said he had an idea who may have taken the appliances, but did not have proof.

— Officers spoke with a Sharp Street resident on station at 4:56 p.m. Friday in reference to the eviction process.
