— Officers responded to the 300 block of Hawley Avenue at 3:29 p.m. Monday for a parking complaint. Officers located the vehicle, which had valid registration and was parked legally. Officers were unable to make contact with the owner at that time and will check the vehicle again in the near future to verify the parking is in compliance with city ordinance.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Fifth Street at 3:07 p.m. Monday for a fight involving several juveniles. Officers located the caller and were advised that the fight had occurred on Vine Avenue a short time earlier as the kids were walking home from school. The caller advised that a juvenile that had recently been suspended from school had started or tried to start a fight with her two sons, and that as she arrived at the scene of the fight, she observed a woman in an SUV pick up the juvenile that had allegedly started the fight. The caller then followed that vehicle which dropped the juvenile off in an alley between East Fifth Street and East Sixth Street, and reportedly had a yellow pipe or bat. Officers gathered information and advised the caller to obtain copies of the police reports related to the ongoing issue and consult the municipal court about getting a restraining order against the juvenile. Officers were unable to locate the juvenile but did locate the involved vehicle and spoke with the driver who advised that she saw a group of five individuals and thought they were going to assault the juvenile, who she knew as a friend of her daughter, and picked him up. The driver further advised that she dropped the juvenile off near East Fifth Street when she noticed a vehicle following her, and that when she stopped to drop the juvenile off, she brandished a bat to show that she would defend herself.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:20 p.m. with the housing officer for a report of large amounts of trash in the driveway and all around the residence, that the caller feared would attract animals. The caller and the housing officers observed a large bird fly out of the opened garage which was also filled with trash. The housing officer advised that numerous citations have been issued and the tenants were recently evicted, and that the property was reportedly having the trash cleaned up sometime this week.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:16 p.m. Monday regarding a possible missing person. Officers gathered information on the person and dispatch entered a BOLO into the law enforcement data pass to attempt to locate and verify the well-being of the individual. The caller was requested to advise officers if any further information on the matter is learned.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard for a report of dogs barking habitually at a residence. Officers located two dogs in the fenced backyard of the residence and noted they were barking as they arrived and continued to do so while officers monitored the area. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence, and a warning tag was placed on the front door for excessive dog barking. Officers will attempt to follow up in the future with a resident.
— Officers responded to the area of Penn Avenue and East Pershing Street at 8:28 a.m. Monday for a parking complaint. The caller advised a food delivery truck was parked the wrong way in a one-way alleyway. Officers spoke with the driver who advised he thought the alleyway was a two-way, and officers informed him it had recently been changed to a one way.
–Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:44 a.m. Thursday to check for a man with an active warrant at the request of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s office.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:09 a.m. Thursday for a report of indecent exposure. The caller advised that while walking through the area she saw a man exposing himself through a picture window. Officers spoke with the man, who denied the allegations.
–Officers were stopped by a resident in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:54 a.m. Thursday, who advised that two dogs were walking around the intersection of State Street and Lincoln Avenue. The dogs were located and placed in the back of a cruiser for safety. The humane society was contacted and took custody of the dogs.
–Officers responded to the area of North Madison Avenue and East State Street at 1:53 a.m. Thursday for a loud person complaint. Officers were unable to locate the person in question.
–Officers responded to Kelly Park at 9:16 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious vehicle at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious vehicle. The occupants were advised of the park hours and sent on their way.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Ninth Street at 8:43 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a group of armed men potentially in the caller’s residence. When officers arrived, the caller said it might have been a dream, and when officers were able to make contact with the caller they were found to be intoxicated. Officers searched the residence, finding the caller was the only person present.
–Officers responded to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised he had not heard from his sister that afternoon and was concerned. Officers spoke with the sister who advised she had spoken with her brother, and everything was fine.
–Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman who had been asked to leave but continued to look through the dumpster. Officers spoke with the woman, and the business’ manager, and the woman was issued a criminal trespass notice and left the property.
–Officers responded to East Third Street at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday for a report of someone washing their semi-truck and blocking the roadway. Officers found the area to be legally parked and advised the owner of the complaint.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbed person. The caller advised they were receiving multiple concerning text messages from a woman. Officers checked the woman’s apartment but were unable to contact them. Eventually officers were able to have Verizon ping the woman’s cell phone and located her in another jurisdiction. Officers from that jurisdiction were able to make contact with the woman and advised they could not do anything further. Officers the caller that the woman had been found.
–Officers responded to Centennial Park at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person. A woman was going around to random children and making them uncomfortable. Officers spoke with the woman, advising her of the complaint, and she left the area.
–Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:31 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a dog at large. When officers arrived the owner of the dog already had it on a lease and out of the roadway.
–Officers responded to the area of Columbia Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man with an active warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Allen Vancooney, 28, Salem, who was detained, and once the warrant was confirmed Vancooney was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to a business in the 1000 block of West State Street at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. Officers spoke with the clerk on duty who advised that two women had been stealing from the store. Officers will attempt to contact both women and advised them they are no longer welcome in the store.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday for a possible car vs. Pedestrian. The caller advised that he was conducting traffic control for the street department when a vehicle ran over his foot. Officers gathered the driver’s, James Huffman, 81, Canfield, information and issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
–Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible dispute. While enroute officers were advised the involved parties had left the area.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of Granite Avenue at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a 911 hang-up-call. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the call or any type of disturbance.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers located an unknown liquid in the roadway in the 300 block and contacted the street department to respond.
–Officers responded to the area of East State Street at 7:29 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a tree limb in the roadway. Officers were also advised that the limb had damaged a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle advised they had been travelling eastbound when the limb fell on his vehicle. Officers documented the damage and requested the Street Department respond to the scene to clear the roadway.
