County Sheriff
— A resident on state Route 45, Madison Township, reported at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday that she hired a man to do a siding job at her residence. He and her husband had words and he walked off the job with her ladder and did damage to the siding. She wanted a report on file.
— An Enon Valley, Pa. resident reported at 9:49 p.m. Friday that he just got out of the Columbiana County Jail and multiple inmates from the jail have been calling his cell phone and threatening him.
East Liverpool
— Officers were dispatched to a residence on Globe Street on Aug. 12 at 4:54 a.m. in reference to a suicidal female. Officers made contact with the female and determined to her to be okay.
— Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Thompson Avenue on Aug. 12 at 6:07 p.m. for a juvenile acting up. Officers spoke to the male juvenile and told him it was not all right to hit.
— Officers responded on Aug. 12 at 9:29 p.m. to Pennsylvania Avenue for a report of a motorcycle on fire. Officers arrived and found a Honda motorcycle fully engulfed. The fire department extinguished the fire and the bike was towed by First Class Towing. Officers checked the area and could not find the rider who was said to have jumped off the motorcycle and taken off when it caught fire.
— Officers responding to Wilbert Avenue on Aug. 12 at 10:39 p.m. after receiving a call of a fight taking place. Upon arrival, the officer observed three females arguing in front of an apartment and asked them what the problem was. The fight was over a love triangle and two of the three girls not liking the third girl. Parties were told to grow up and go their separate ways.
— Officers were dispatched on on Aug.12 at 4:34 a.m. to Blakely Street for a male knocking on doors. Officers told the male to stay off other peoples’ property.
— An officer responded to an animal complaint on Aug. 12 at 8:59 p.m. A caller reported a dog locked in the garage at a Vine Street residence had been barking for six hours. The family was away for emergency.
Liverpool Township
— An officer on Aug. 24 conducted at traffic stop at 7:06 p.m. on Boring Lane on a vehicle traveling 45 mph in a 25-mph zone. The officer issued the driver, a male juvenile, 17, no name and address provided, a citation for speed and released him with a mandatory court date.
— An officer on Aug. 25 conducted a traffic stop at 1:22 p.m. on Boring Lane for a vehicle traveling 47 mph in a 25-mph zone. Cheyenne Garvis, age and address not provided, was issued a citation driving under suspension, speeding and no child restraint and was released with a mandatory court date. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
— An officer responded to the 400 block of Densmore Avenue on Aug. 25 at 1:58 p.m. and spoke with a female who reported that while she was driving south on state Route 267 just past Simmons Street, she heard a loud pop noise and assumed it was a tire blow out. Her son sitting in the front seat said the window broke. After arriving at her residence, she noticed a small hole in the window with glass on the rear seat and floorboard. Her son, 7, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat was hit with the glass from the window. A report was filed.
— An officer conducted a traffic stop on Boring Lane on Aug. 26 at 1:56 p.m. on a vehicle with an expired plate. Joshua Rickard, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for expired plates and released with a court date.
— An officer responded on Aug. 28 at 1:21 p.m. to the corner of Westfield and Carter for a van stuck in a ditch. First Class Towing was called to get pull the van out. No report was filed at the request of the driver due to no damage being done.
— An officer observed Shane Potts, 33, address not provided, who was known to have a warrant riding his bike on Anderson Avenue. The officer stopped Potts and asked him what his name was, and Potts told him Thomas Akers and gave him the birthdate that matched Akers. Potts admitted that he wasn’t Akers and he was aware of child support warrants for him. Two East Liverpool officers arrived on the scene and confirmed that Potts had five outstanding warrants. Potts was placed in custody and searched. Officers found on him two clear glass smoking devices with white residue and burn marks and a rubber container that contained crystal rocks that appeared to be crystal meth. Potts said it was meth when asked. Potts was transported to the county jail and charged with drug paraphernalia. The crystal rocks were sent to BCI for testing.
— Officers were dispatched on Aug 29 at 12:04 a.m. to a vacant house in the 1700 block of Orchard Street for a breaking and entering report. A male told officers he was there to clean up the property and that upon his arrival he entered the house to hear water running and found the water meter missing and broken water lines from where someone had attempted to take the copper water lines.
— An officer on Aug. 29 conducted a traffic stop at 2:29 p.m. on Densmore Avenue for a vehicle going 49 mph in a 20-mph school zone. Triston Higgins, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speed and released with a court date.
— An officer on Aug. 30 conducted a traffic stop on Densmore Avenue at 8:14 a.m. for a vehicle traveling 36 mph in a 20-mph school zone. Mallory Stowers, age and address not provided, was found to be driving under four suspensions and two failures to reinstate. Stowers was released with a citation for speeding in a school zone and no driver’s license and was released with a court date. First Class Towing towed the vehicle.
— An officer on Aug. 31 conducted a traffic stop on state Route 7 at 11:29 a.m. for a vehicle going 77 mph in a 55 mph-zone driven by DeWayne Toothman, 40, address not provided. When the officers checked Toothman for a valid license, it returned that he had 15 current open driving suspensions with 11 them being failure to reinstate. Toothman, who also had an outstanding warrant, was issued a citation for speed and given a mandatory court date, then transported to the county jail. First Class Towing towed the vehicle.
— An officer on Aug 31 conducted a traffic stop at 2:30 p.m. on Densmore Avenue for a vehicle going 33 mph in a 20-mph school zone. Jade Davis, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speeding in a school zone and released with a court date.
— An officer on Aug. 31 conducted a traffic stop at 2:41 p.m. on Densmore Avenue on a vehicle going 40 mph in a 20-mph school zone. Valerie Kiger, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speeding in a school zone and released with a court date.
— An officer on Aug. 31 at 7:21 p.m. on Parkway Avenue observed a car with loud exhaust and conducted a traffic stop. During a pat down on the driver, Paul Manbeck, 35, address not provided, which was conducted with consent because the traffic stop happened in a known drug area, the officer discovered a glass pipe used for crack. Manbeck was transported to the station where he was released with a summons and First Class Towing towed the vehicle.
Salem
— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 9:03 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. Officers were advised that a man approached a couple after the other man was said to have allegedly grabbed the woman. Officers searched the area for some time after being given the possible direction of travel but were unable to locate them.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department with an active warrant, whose name was not listed, wanting to turn themselves in at 1:51 p.m. Sunday. The warrant was out of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. who advised they would not come pick the person up. Officers advised the person to turn themselves in to Portage County directly.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 1:41 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. Officers located the person from an earlier theft call being stopped by the original caller. Officers spoke to the man, Jarrod Westover, 23, who admitted to stealing the bicycle from the prior incident and took him into custody for theft. Incident to Westover’s arrest, officers located suspected narcotics in his possession, and Westover was subsequently charged with drug paraphernalia. Westover was transported to the police department for processing before transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 11:54 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The man advised a person had taken his son’s bicycle without his knowledge or permission. The caller was able to provide officers with video footage of the person in question. Officers will attempt to locate the person.
— Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 8:16 p.m. Saturday for a report of animal abuse. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
