— Officers spoke to a man by phone at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday for a report of fraud. The caller advised that he had been notified by a collection agency of an outstanding balance on a PayPal account of approximately $145. The caller later learned that someone used his social security number and opened an account under his identity and was selling items but never sent the product sometime between March and May of 2023.
East Liverpool
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Michigan Street Aug. 2 at 6:59 p.m. for a report on drug dealing. No drug activity was found.
— Officers responded to a possible domestic report on Dresden Avenue Aug. 2 at 8:41 p.m. Officers did not find anything on their arrival.
— Officers Aug. 2 at 12:27 p.m. were removing debris from the roadway on Lisbon Street when a driver drove around the bend and had to skid to a stop. Officers checked and verified a valid license and gave the driver a warning and advised him to pay more attention.
— Dispatch was notified by Lifeteam EMS Aug. 2 at 11:49 p.m. that they had received a private call from a residence in the 300 block of Wilbert Avenue regarding a person who was burned. The caller claimed they were playing with alcohol and a fire broke out injuring someone, but the fire was out. East Liverpool Fire Department was notified to respond with Lifeteam. There was no fire and Lifeteam transported one person.
— An officer spoke Aug. 2 at 1:37 a.m. to the mother of a juvenile patient in the emergency room who wanted to report that she received unsatisfactory care from the hospital staff.
— Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Riley Avenue Aug. 2 at 6:56 p.m. for a report of an abandoned house being vandalized. The caller reported multiple teenage boys were messing with the side door and one went in. Officers arrived and made contact with one of the boys who said he did not go into the home or participate in the spray painting. The officer went inside the house and saw the words “cops” and “will” spray painted. Neighbors were advised to call if they see the teens return.
— Officers responded Aug. 2 at 1:27 a.m. to the 300 block of Blakely Street for a possible domestic. Upon arrival, officers learned that the caller was misled to believe a domestic occurred. Further investigation revealed the disturbance was a love triangle.
— Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on McKinnon Avenue Aug. 2 at 10:42 a.m. A male was reported to be walking around with no shirt on mumbling to himself. Officers found Joseph Quinn, 21, address not provided, and took him into custody for an active warrant.
— Officers spoke to a female Aug. 2 at 10:27 a.m. regarding her son who was riding his bike on Avondale Street and was struck by a truck which then fled the scene. Officers reviewed camera footage after the story didn’t check out and it was revealed that the juvenile said he was not hit, that he just wrecked his bike in the storm drain.
— An officer responded to Giant Eagle Aug 2 at 9:40 a.m. for a theft report. Employees showed camera footage of a male who took a bouquet of flowers without paying. The officers located the male who said he was having a bad day and thought he paid for them. He then returned to the store and paid for the flowers. Giant Eagle requested that charges not be filed and the male be trespassed from the store for a year.
— An officer responded to the 1900 block of Allison Avenue Aug. 2:40 p.m. for a drug overdose. East Liverpool Fire Department also responded and treated the male on scene and then transported him to the East Liverpool hospital.
— An officer responded to Nikki’s Market Aug. 2 at 10:25 a.m. for a report of a male with an active warrant being inside. The male left before the officer arrived.
— A male came to the police station Aug. 2 at 7:12 a.m. to report that on July 8 a security camera was taken from his house.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of State Street Aug 2 at 4:24 p.m. for a verbal argument between roommates. The female stated she wanted the male removed and was advised by officers that she would have to serve him with an eviction.
Salem
— Officers responded with the fire department to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fourth Street at 8:58 p.m. Wednesday for a medical call. Officers stood by while the fire department treated the caller.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a reckless operator. Officers checked the area but did not locate anyone driving recklessly.
— Roger Gnagey Jr. was cited for failure to obey traffic control lights after his vehicle on East State Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Kristen Cline, causing it to strike the rear of a vehicle driven by Jeffery Kaufman at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Snyder Road at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers located and followed the vehicle in question, but no traffic violations were observed.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a recovered bicycle. The caller advised the bike had been found lying against their fence. The fire department responded and transported the bicycle to the police department.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers located the person in question, advising him of the complaint.
— Officers stood by at the police department at 4:21 p.m. while Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers brought a woman involved in a traffic accident on state Route 45 outside the city for a voluntary urine test. Officers witnessed the woman give voluntary permission for the test and signed as a witness.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of identity theft. The caller advised that someone unknown to him had used his information to access his social security account and make several transactions without his knowledge or permission. Officers advised the caller of the proper agencies to notify.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible domestic. Officers were advised that both parties were already separated. Officers spoke with both parties, who advised nothing physical had taken place, and they were just arguing over money issues.
— Officers on patrol in the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday were following up on a bolo from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and detained a man, whose name was not listed, briefly until it was confirmed that the sheriff’s office no longer wanted him.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Ninth Street at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle parked and spoke with the driver, advising them of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a caller about his mailbox. The caller advised that he believed someone unknown to him may have been tampering with his mailbox. Officers advised him of his options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 400 block of East Pershing Street at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an ambulance needed. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed, and EMT transported the person in question to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man exposing himself. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
