— Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 2:28 p.m. Monday for a report of shoplifting. The caller advised the man in question left the area prior to officers’ arrival and had returned all the items he attempted to steal. The caller did not want to file charges against the man but if located wanted the man advised not to return to the store.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Maple Street at 1:46 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised that landscapers were working at a nearby condo complex and had trampled through their yard. Officers observed the company to be legally parked along the edge of the lawn and advised them of the complaint. Officers requested they avoid walking on the caller’s lawn and they advised they would.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Lundy Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Monday for a person to be removed. Officers spoke with a woman advising her she needed to leave the residence, which she did without incident.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Arch Street at 1:03 p.m. Monday for a report of a distraught woman. The caller advised the woman was visibly upset and yelling she was going to harm herself. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised that while she was yelling, it was at her boyfriend who she was talking to on the phone. Officers asked if any threats of suicide or self-harm were made, which the woman denied advising she was fine.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:38 p.m. Monday for a report of an injured dog. When officers arrived, that caller was with the animal. While officers were on scene the owner of the animal came out of the store and retrieved the dog.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 7:06 a.m. Monday for reported hit and skip accident. The caller advised that she had parked her company’s truck at a stop when the vehicle was struck by a red pickup truck. Officers documented the damage and provided the driver with a report number.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 3:21 a.m. Monday to assist the fire department and EMT with a medical call. Officers stood by while the patient was loaded into an ambulance.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:12 a.m. Monday for a report of a man yelling obscenities. While officers were advising the man, Dakota McCluskey, 31, Kensington, of the complaint it was found he had an active warrant for his arrest. McCluskey was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 11:28 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic incident. The man advised his wife had hit him with the door. The man did not have any marks nor required medical treatment. Officers were unable to make contact with the woman involved, and the matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 10:43 p.m. Sunday for a person to be removed. The man, Ryan Armstrong, Salem, who was known to officers, was asked to leave the property but refused. Armstrong has been given several warnings in the past for the same behavior at other establishments and was cited for disorderly conduct and advised not to return to the property.
— Officers could hear a verbal altercation outside of the police department at 9:24 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the intersection of East Pershing and South Ellsworth. A man was in the roadway screaming profanities at a vehicle that was no longer in the area. Someone in the vehicle, a black Dodge truck, had yelled at the man and a woman while walking, causing the dispute.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:39 p.m. Sunday for a report of an ambulance needed. Officers were advised two men had gotten into a fight with one man lying on the ground. Officers observed a man outside of Wendy’s with a bloody face who was later transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boardman. Officers were advised the other man had fled on foot with a small child. Officers were able to locate the second man a short distance away, who advised the other man had swung first and he had punched back in self defense. Officers collected statement forms from several individuals and after some investigating it was found that the second man had robbed the first man during the incident prior to fleeing the scene. The man, Dontae Mckissic, was later arrested for aggravated robbery and transported to the police department for processing prior to being transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 4:36 p.m. Sunday for a report of reckless operation. The caller advised that someone they knew had been driving recklessly around her children. Officers responded to the residence of the driver and advised her of the complaint.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 2:36 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer report. The man advised the cleaning lady and building manager at the Smith Center were being rude to his girlfriend and another resident, but no threats had been made. The man was advised to have his girlfriend and the other resident contact the property owner and voice their concerns with the staff.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 12:19 p.m. Sunday for a civil matter. The caller advised he was there to gather his belongings, which were awarded to him by court order, and that several items were missing and he needed a report on file.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pershing Street at 11:55 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were fine.
— Corey Spencer, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after his westbound vehicle in the 1300 block of 6:53 p.m. Sunday struck the rear of a legally parked and unoccupied vehicle owned by Julie Smith, Salem. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Tenth Street at 7:50 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised his neighbor was lying in the driveway and was unsure if they needed help. Officers spoke with the neighbor who advised he was stretching and didn’t need medical attention.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Euclid Street at 4:55 a.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. The caller advised the mother of his child had an altercation with her ex-boyfriend. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised her ex-boyfriend had grabbed her by the arms and threw her down the steps. Officers observed marks and bruises on her person which were photographed and documented. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the Burger King at 3:26 a.m. Sunday for a report of three men that had just left another nearby restaurant that sounded drunk. Officers located the vehicle in question occupied by three men parked near the drive through. The driver, Tyler Metzler, Struthers, denied drinking but officers observed an odor of alcohol coming from him, slurred speech and red glossy eyes. Metzler consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the police department. While there Metzler was given a breath test, coming back over the legal limit, and charged with OVI.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:47 a.m. Sunday to assist highway patrol with a traffic stop. Officers stood by while troopers conducted their investigation until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 12:16 a.m. Sunday for an animal complaint. The caller advised their neighbor had pet ducks that would come onto their property, preventing them from taking their dog outside. Officers were also advised of threats made by the neighbor toward their dog. Officers spoke with the neighbor and advised her of the city ordinance for fowl within the city.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 12:07 a.m. Sunday for a reported dog at large. When they arrived, officers were advised the dog was now inside its residence.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:13 p.m. Saturday regarding information about an incident that took place in another jurisdiction. Officers advised the caller that the information would be passed on to a detective.
— Officers on patrol in the 700 block of East State Street at 11:13 p.m. Saturday for a road rage incident. A man on a motorcycle advised that a vehicle had nearly caused an accident with him. Contact was later made with the other driver, who was advised of the complaint.
— Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 7:34 p.m. Saturday for a harassment report. The woman advised that she had received a text message from someone claiming to be a deputy, alleging there was a warrant for her arrest. The woman advised that she believed the message had come from her ex, who she had a protection order against which had never been served.
