East Palestine
– Jonathan R. Duncan, 41, New Castle, Pa., was charged with possession of marijuana, speed, marked lanes and a seatbelt violation following a traffic stop on North Market Street near Stacey Avenue at 7:37 p.m. Thursday.
– A representative with a government agency reported at 11:14 a.m. Thursday a resident had made threats regarding a drone flying over a residence. The resident was contacted and advised of the consequences of his actions.
– An individual reported at 7:01 a.m. Thursday her adult son had been missing since June. An investigation is pending.
– An officer responded to a business on East Taggart Street at 9:26 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a disturbance between a few customers. The customers had left before officers arrived.
– Officers responded to the 600 block of Alice Street at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday where a woman had been knocking at the back door of a residence and was confused. Officers stayed with the woman until a family member arrived to take her home.
– A Glenwood Avenue resident reported at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday her estranged husband had been posting things about her on his social media accounts in violation of a temporary protection order. The matter is under investigation.
– Officers responded to a 100 block East Main Street home at 3:11 a.m. Aug. 15 in reference to a residential burglary alarm. Officers checked the perimeter and found everything secure and no sign of forced entry.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of West Martin Street at 6:12 p.m. Aug. 14 in reference to a disturbance involving a woman who had broken the glass pane on the front door of the residence and then claimed she was assaulted by the man who lives at the home. The matter is under investigation.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of Park Avenue at 5:29 p.m. Aug. 14 in reference to a custody dispute involving a mother not returning her son to his father. All individuals were advised it was civil matter and the mother said she would be returning her son to his father.
– Officers responded to the Village Park at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 14 in reference to a vehicle driven by a man driving around the park numerous times and waving at the lifeguards. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
– Officers responded to the East North Avenue at 4:10 a.m. Aug. 13 in reference to a domestic dispute. Officers found it to be a civil matter.
– David A. Young, 44, no address listed, was charged with OVI, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to control after officers responded to West Martin Street at 12:38 p.m. Aug. 12 in reference to a man dragging a boat down the street, striking other vehicles. Officers were able to follow the marks on the pavement to a Padgett Road home.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Wood Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Aug. 12 in reference to a dog bite. The officer spoke with the victim and dog owner and information was provided for both.
– Officers responded to the 400 block of East North Avenue at 11:28 p.m. Aug. 11 in reference to a disturbance between a husband and wife. Officers found that the two had been arguing, but no physical contact had been made. The husband was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– Officers responded for mutual aid to a motor vehicle crash on state Route 14 at the John Deere dealership in which a driver was attempting to leave the scene. Officers remained on scene with Columbiana police until the highway patrol arrived.
– A Wood Street resident reported at 9:39 p.m. Aug. 11 that a man was sending threatening messages to her fiance.
– Officers responded to the city park at 1:03 p.m. Aug. 11 in reference to a woman in a vehicle yelling for help. Officers contacted the woman who was found alone watching a movie on her phone while her friends were swimming. No violence was reported.
– An employee of AWP reported at 6:44 a.m. Aug. 11 being assaulted by a motorist at the derailment work site on East Taggart Street.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 11:31 p.m. Aug. 10 after neighbors reported sounds of the upstairs tenants fighting with someone. Officers found that the resident was arguing with her boyfriend on the phone.
– Officers responded to the 600 block of West Martin Street at 6:55 p.m. Aug. 9 in reference to a man who had shot his dog. An investigation is pending.
– Sara Noling, 36, no address listed, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments after officers responded to the area of Liberty and Alice streets at 6:13 p.m. Aug. 9 in reference to her “not acting right.” She was found in possession of a small hand bag which contained approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine, 3.5 grams of fentanyl and several hypodermic syringes. Additional charges are pending.
– Officers spoke with a man on station at 8:23 a.m. Aug. 9 in reference to his juvenile niece receiving text messages of a sexual nature from an unknown person.
Salem
– John Douglas III, 28, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 12:14 p.m. Saturday where he had allegedly made threats to kill his mother during an argument.
– Officers responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 11:07 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported a tree branch from a neighbor’s tree had fallen onto his property and he had thrown the branch back onto the neighbor’s property, prompting an exchange of words. Both individuals were advised to separate and not speak to each other.
– Charles Collins, 64, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after police observed his disabled vehicle in the area of West State Street and North Howard Avenue at 10:40 a.m. Saturday.
– An officer on patrol at 3:07 a.m. Saturday observed a vehicle inside Waterworth Memorial Park. The officer spoke with the juvenile driver who said a few friends were using the restroom. Contact was made with the other juveniles and all of them were brought to the police station for being out past curfew and released to their parents.
– Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:58 a.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious person looking inside windows of apartments. Officers checked the area but were unable to find anyone.
– Officers responded to a gas station in the 2700 block of East State Street at 12:35 a.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious vehicle without license plates parked at a gas pump which had patrons scared. The vehicle was gone before officers arrived.
– Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 9:13 p.m. Friday where a resident reported his neighbor was on his property and would not leave. The neighbor had fled the area before officers arrived. Officers contacted the neighbor and advised the neighbor to stay away from the complainant.
– Officers responded to the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 8:56 p.m. Friday in reference to a theft of a vehicle within city limits. The matter is under investigation.
– An officer responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 8:39 p.m. Friday in reference to a 911 hang-up call, but found the home to be vacant and everything quiet in the area.
– Officers responded with medical personnel to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 7:56 p.m. Friday to a medical call. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
– Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and Sixth Street at 6:57 p.m. Friday where a caller reported a vehicle parked in the area possibly involved in drug activity. Officers checked the area but could not find the vehicle in question.
– An officer directing traffic at the intersection of Ohio Avenue and East Pershing Street at 6:27 p.m. Friday observed a woman exit her home completely nude and incoherently yelling. The officer advised her go back inside her home due to people being in the area for a football game at Sebo Stadium. During the investigation, the woman was found to be unable to care for herself due to being extremely intoxicated. Medical personnel responded and transported the woman to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Boardman.
– Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force take a man into custody in the 100 block of West Street at 4:54 p.m. Friday, with $200 seized as evidence.
– An officer spoke with a driver at 4:68 p.m. Friday who reported he had pulled over on South Lincoln Avenue near Franklin Street for a Perry Township cruiser and the cruiser’s mirror struck the mirror of the driver’s vehicle, damaging both vehicles.
– An officer responded to the 300 block of West Fifth Street at 2:59 p.m. Friday where a woman reported an unknown person had contacted her regarding a trailer to rent in a nearby trailer court and wanted paid through Facebook. The woman said she was suspicious and contacted the trailer park and the person she spoke to had never heard of the person in question. She was advised to block the person.
– Police responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 12:44 p.m. Friday in reference to cars speeding through the alleys. Police checked the area but were unable to find any vehicles.
– A Fairview Court resident reported on station at 9:10 a.m. Friday she had hired a contractor to work on her kitchen, but was not satisfied with the work and had a disagreement regarding payment. She was advised it was a civil matter. An officer contacted the contractor and advised him to cease contact with the complainant.
– A Maple Street resident reported on station at 8:18 p.m. Thursday her security camera captured a man coming onto her porch that morning and looking around, but not taking anything.
– A Newgarden Avenue resident reported on station at 5:47 p.m. Thursday that she believes her soon-to-be ex had been sending her messages.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 5:44 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported having her vehicle inspected after having trouble with her brakes and learning that someone had put anti-freeze in her brake lines. An investigation is pending.
– Patrolling officers at 2:27 p.m. Thursday observed a large amount of smoke in the 1400 block of Orchard Avenue. Officers found the resident burning green brush. The fire department responded to the scene to explain burning laws to the resident.
– Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with detaining a man in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:26 p.m. Thursday, during which they seized $150 as evidence.
– Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:33 a.m. Thursday where a resident reported his neighbor’s dogs are continuously in his yard and one of them had chased him that day. Officers spoke with the neighbor and issued her a warning for dogs at large.
– A Columbia Street resident reported on station at 9:20 a.m. Thursday she had paid someone for an item, but he did not provide it to her, then he stopped responding to her texts.
– An officer responded to the 1500 block of Maple Street at 6:25 a.m. Thursday where a resident reported seeing an unknown man on her property. Officers checked the area but were unable to find the person in question.
– Kerry A. Vance, 45, Salem, was charged with criminal damaging after officers responded to the 200 block of West 16th Street at 6:07 a.m. Thursday where she admitted to damaging her neighbor’s fence.
– Officers responded with medical personnel to the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:55 a.m. Thursday in reference to a highly intoxicated man lying in a yard. The man was found unable to care for himself and had told others he had thought about self harm. The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
– Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday where a resident reported her dog had brought an opossum into the house and she could not remove it. Officers were able to get the baby opossum to go outside.
– Officers responded to the 400 block of West Fourth Street at 11:12 p.m. Wednesday where a resident reported other students from his former football team had been driving by honking the horn and knocking on his door.
– Officers assisted Perry Township police at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday with an adult man who went missing within city limits from their jurisdiction.
