Salem
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 12:14 a.m. Monday for a report of an elderly man in a bathrobe standing outside. Officers located the person, who was not an elderly man, standing on the sidewalk, and observed him to appear sick. The man advised he had gotten out of a car at a nearby business so he could vomit due to having drunk too much alcohol and his ride left him there. Officers gave the man a ride home.
— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 10:25 p.m. Sunday for a juvenile issue. The caller advised that a female juvenile had walked out of the emergency room. Officers located the juvenile who refused to stop or speak with officers. The juvenile walked into McDonald’s and asked staff for a cup of water which they refused as they were closing up the lobby. The juvenile refused to exit the lobby with officers and proceeded behind the counter to get herself a drink. She was subsequently detained and escorted out of the building. After a brief investigation officers returned the juvenile to the hospital, where she was released to staff from the hospital and the group home she had been staying at.
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 9:57 p.m. Sunday for a report of computer harassment. Officers spoke with the caller, finding the email in question was just a generated email to try and get money. The caller was made aware and advised to contact officers if there were any further issues.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised a male juvenile had broken one of the windows on his front door. Officers spoke with the juvenile and his mother about the matter, who admitted to breaking the window by accident. The caller did not want to pursue the matter legally but wanted the family to pay for the window repair. Officers advised them of the caller’s wishes.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:51 p.m. for a report of an incident between an employee and another person. The caller advised that his friend had showed up to the store irate and screaming at him, and that the other person had left prior to officers’ arrival. Due to the circumstances management advised them they did not want him to return to the store. Officers contacted the man and advised him he was not welcome at the property.
— Officer spoke to a man at the police department at 2:43 p.m. Sunday for a report of a reckless driver. The man advised that he was walking on the roadway on West Pershing Street near Georgetown Road when a black Sedan with a temp tag almost ran him over. He advised he didn’t get a plate number and doesn’t have a make or model of the vehicle. He was advised a report would be on file.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 12:47 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a woman who advised her boyfriend wouldn’t let her leave the residence. Officers spoke with the caller who again advised she wanted to leave, and her boyfriend wouldn’t let her. Officers spoke with the man who denied not letting her leave the residence, and officers advised the caller she could leave if she wanted to, but she decided to stay at the residence.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Salem School property. Officers advised the caller that if the school officials wanted the vehicle removed, they would have to contact a towing company and have the vehicle removed.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 10:01 a.m. Sunday for a parking complaint. Officers located the vehicle, which was unoccupied and parked in a parking spot. The caller advised he wanted the vehicle checked on since it had been in the lot since the day prior.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 9:14 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a man with suicidal feelings. EMT and the fire department responded, and the man was transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 5:43 a.m. Sunday for a report of someone trying to get into the caller’s basement. Officers checked the area and the outside of the entrance finding everything to be okay. The caller advised that she didn’t hear anyone but heard a noise outside and was concerned.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2700 block of East State Street at 12:09 a.m. Sunday for a report of an elderly woman that has been parked at the business for an extended period. Officers checked on her finding her to be fine, and she advised that she was just on the phone with some family members.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:48 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a woman who contacted law enforcement but hung up before giving any details. Officers found the woman to be intoxicated but not having an emergency. The woman was advised to remain indoors for the remainder of the night.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:42 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious person. The caller advised and unknown man was standing in his front yard. Officers found the incident to be a misunderstanding and the man was sent on his way.
— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:22 p.m. Saturday to speak with a homeless man. Officers advised the man of possible options to stay at.
— Officers responded to the area of Brooklyn Avenue and Cleveland Street at 9:23 p.m. Saturday for a report of fireworks. Officers spoke with the individual who advised that he lit a few small ones but was finished for the evening.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 5:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man and woman near a business that is closed for the day. Officers observed the man and woman walking on the sidewalk who advised they were just walking through the parking lot.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to Circle K at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man on a bicycle with insufficient lighting and dressed all in black clothes. Officers spoke with the man about the dangers of his attire while riding a bike at night and ensured his bike met all lighting requirements for riding at night.
— Officers responded to Circle K at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of counterfeit money. The employee advised a person had paid for a pre-paid gift card with a $50 bill and three $1 before leaving the store. The employee followed the person after discovering the $50 bill was fake. The person then fled as a passenger in a white Ford van. The matter is under investigation.
— Jamie Moore, 47, Bedford, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her eastbound vehicle on state Route 45 struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Deborah Butream, 61, Salem, at 9:36 a.m. Aug. 1
— Officers responded to the area of East Pidgeon Road and Depot Road at 6:04 p.m. July 31 for a report of an issue with a manhole cover. The caller advised that a manhole cover off the side of the roadway was sticking up and fell into the hole when he attempted to fix it. Officers used caution tape around the exposed hole and the Ohio Department of Transportation was notified of the issue.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 3:42 p.m. July 31 for a wellness check. Officers attempted to contact the homeowner, but nobody was present at that time.
