County Sheriff

— A deputy at 2:33 a.m. Saturday assisted a local EMS agency with a medical call in the 17000 block of McCormick Run Road, Madison Township.

— An alarm was reported going off at 1:51 a.m. Saturday at a local business in the 17000 block of state Route 644 in Franklin Township. A deputy walked around the building and found it secure.

— An alarm was reported at 1:43 a.m. Saturday at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, state Route 45, with a front door found ajar. The building was checked, but no one was found inside and the building was secured.

— A woman on South Lane Drive, Hanover Township, reported at 5:02 a.m. Friday that she and her husband were arguing a lot and she said he made threats to assault her during an argument the night before. She just wanted the sheriff’s office to know, but didn’t want to press charges or file a report.

— Deputies were called at 1:48 a.m. Friday to Barnett’s Motel, U.S. Route 62, Salem, for a disturbance in a motel room. A woman was located by herself, but the television was very loud. She said no one had been there. She was told to turn the television down for the night and cooperated.

Columbiana

— Laura Hankey, 56, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Ashli Lane at 5:42 p.m. Saturday.

— Robert Davis, 61, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in front of the Columbiana High School at 5:04 p.m. Saturday.

— James E. Artrup, 34, New Castle, Pa., was arrested on multiple warrants during a traffic stop at Creek Road and state Route 14 at 1 a.m. Saturday. He was also cited for driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation.

— Police responded with medical personnel to the 300 block of South Main Street at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13 in reference to a possible overdose and found one dose of Narcan had already been administered. Officers administered one more dose of Narcan before EMS arrived. The patient became responsive and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

— Officers responded to a 500 block Lisbon Street at 6:14 p.m. Jan. 13 in reference to a suspicious person on the property after hours and refusing to leave. It was determined to be a misunderstanding.

— Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Edgewood Drive at 2:11 p.m. Jan. 12 and found it to be verbal only.

— Officers responded to a 700 block Fairfield Avenue business at 9:37 a.m. Jan. 11 in reference to a suspicious man the manager wanted trespassed from the property. The man, who had already left, was told not to return.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improperly display of registration on state Route 7 near Metz Road at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 9.

— A woman reported on station at 12:10 p.m. Jan. 8 a fraudulent charge she received through email.

— Abigail Maslonek, 38, Coraopolis, Pa., was cited for speeding and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle following a traffic stop in the 44000 block of state Route 14.

— Officers responded to a neighbor dispute at 7:37 p.m. Jan. 7.

Lisbon

— Mark Anthony Razo, 39, Canfield, was charged with obstruction of official business and a seatbelt violation, and found to have felony warrants out of Columbiana County, following a traffic stop at South Beaver and Washington streets at 1:36 a.m. Jan. 10 in which he was a passenger and refused to cooperate with officers

— Officers conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 2:39 a.m. Jan. 9 on Jermone Street. An investigation revealed suspected marijuana that was confiscated.

— An officer responded to the 200 block of North Beaver Street at 9:11 a.m. Jan. 8 in reference to someone to be removed. The person left before the officer arrived. Following an investigation, warrants were issued for the person for theft, unlawful restraint and domestic violence.

— An East Lincoln Way resident reported at 1:13 p.m. Jan. 6 there was a bat in his apartment. Officers went to the apartment with the resident but could not find the bat.

— An officer responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street at 6:19 a.m. Jan. 6 in reference to a man outside screaming. The officer spoke with the man in question who was yelling for his dog. The man’s friend was found on the ground, screaming and hyperventilating regarding the missing dog. The woman was calmed down and the dog was later found.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Sherman Street at 8:34 p.m. Jan. 5 to assist Minerva police with an investigation in which a resident of the home had allegedly helped a friend steal guns from a Minerva location. The resident was advised to contact police if he learns any information about the guns

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East High Street at 5:09 p.m. Jan. 5 in reference to a man walking through a yard at around 3 a.m.. Officers observed security footage and saw a man wearing a heavy jacket and hood up walking through the yard and down the hillside.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 5 to perform a welfare check on a dog after a caller reported their neighbor’s dog had fallen from its cage and possibly had its chain wrapped around its neck. Officers spoke with the owner who said the dog was fine.

— Officers responded to a 300 block East Lincoln Way home at 6:03 p.m. Jan. 3 where a caller reported the seller kicked in the door, causing damage, and stole a sewing machine.

— An officer on routine patrol at 6:25 a.m. Jan. 3 observed a vehicle parked on Lions Club Road and found the occupants engaged in a sexual act. They were advised of the park hours and they willingly left.

— An officer responded to the Days Inn on state Route 154 at 5:12 p.m. Jan. 2 in reference to a suspicious man asking about different people and wanting to know who was in specific rooms. The man left before the officer arrived.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Market Street at 1:56 a.m. Dec. 27 in reference to several reports of a suspicious person knocking on doors. Officers found a street department employee attempting to contact residents regarding a water leak.

— An officer responded to the 500 block of West Washington Street at 7:21 a.m. Dec. 23 to perform a welfare check on a dog after a caller reported concerns due to the cold temperatures. The officer found the dog secured within a residence.

Highway Patrol

— Steven Schrecengost, 26, Beloit, was cited for failure to control after his westbound vehicle on state Route 344 attempted to pass a vehicle when it lost control, traveling off the right side of the roadway and overturning at 6:01 p.m. Thursday in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.

–Chester Johnson, 34, Galeton, Pennsylvania, was cited for failure to obey traffic control devices after his westbound vehicle on Georgetown Road struck a low bridge at 5:11 p.m. Jan. 10 in Knox Township. No injuries were reported.

Salem

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Perry Street with Perry Township officers at 10:37 p.m. Sunday for a report of a wanted person. The person had hidden in a basement and would not come out. When K-9 Simon was deployed the wanted person surrendered and the Perry Township officers took custody of the person.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Prospect Street at 9:22 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. When officers arrived three juveniles fled from officers, but were apprehended without incident. The juveniles, whose names were not listed, were all charged with a delinquency offense and released to their parents.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 9:12 p.m. Sunday to assist Perry Township officers with locating a wanted person. Officers found the person had left prior to their arrival.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of East State Street at 6:35 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with all involved parties and gave them an opportunity to write voluntary statements. Nobody wanted to pursue anything further at that time.

— Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 5:54 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious man. The caller advised the man had been stumbling in the playground near the pavilion, and when officers arrived the man had fallen on the basketball court. While speaking with officers the man continued to hide his hands after officers gave multiple commands to stop doing so, and then refused to comply further with officers. The man, Seaton Ruffner, 39, was taken into custody and while en route to the county jail made claims that he wanted to harm himself. Officers then responded to the police department and the fire department checked on Ruffner, who also refused to cooperate with them, delaying them from ongoing medical calls. After Ruffner finally answered questions, the fire department transported him to the hospital. An open container and THC cartridge were recovered and disposed of out of Ruffner’s property, and once released he was transported to the Columbiana County Jail for disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Fifth Street at 3:35 p.m. Sunday for a noise complaint. Officers heard no noise violations, but did contact the caller who said she could hear running and music from her apartment. Officers explained she would have to contact her landlord due to the noise not violating any laws.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in regards to property with an ongoing investigation. The man was advised of the ongoing investigation.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:59 p.m. Saturday for a report of money being stolen from a pre-paid card. The woman said she had loaded money onto a pre-paid card at an area business and an unknown person from North Carolina had accessed some of the funds without her knowledge or consent. Officers provided the woman with her options for dealing with the situation.
