County Sheriff

— A suspicious older white GMC pickup was reported a traffic hazard parked on the road in the 11000 block of Myers Road in Kensington and occupied by a male at 6:29 a.m. Wednesday. The entire length of Myers Road was checked, but the vehicle was not found.

— A woman on state Route 154, Elkrun Township, reported at 5:32 p.m. Monday that her ex-boyfriend, who she was living with, had her birth certificate and ODOT card. He said he didn’t have either item.

— A woman in the 48000 block of state Route 14, Unity Township, reported at 10:14 p.m. Monday that there were several gunshots in the area. A deputy checked the area and didn’t find anything.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday to meet with a man that was just released from the hospital who called 911 stating he wanted to harm himself. The fire department responded and transported the man back to the hospital.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle parked in the Reilly Elementary parking lot for three to four days. While checking the parking lot officers observed three vehicles, one of which was occupied. Contact was made with the driver who advised that he resides at an address a few houses up on Ohio Avenue, but was currently being evicted and that his girlfriend was at the residence gathering property. He further stated he parked at the school to avoid any further problems at the residence until his girlfriend was done at the house.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 10 p.m. Tuesday for a noise complaint. The caller said the neighbor upstairs was being loud, but while officers were on scene the only person being loud and disruptive was the caller.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Newgarden Avenue at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday for an animal complaint. The caller advised that her father was out of town and that his girlfriend was supposed to take care of the animals, and had moved out without telling anyone and left the animals. The caller advised that she had spoken to her father and that she would be taking the dog for the time being, and would be making arrangements for the cats. The callers advised that she just needed a report to be made.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday for a distraught woman continuing to call 911. The woman claimed that someone was knocking on her door, and that someone had hacked several of her phones. The woman wanted to speak with officers because she needed to go to work but could not get ready. While speaking with officers the woman suddenly refused to cooperate and asked officers to leave.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday to report her car tires had been tampered with for the last several days. Three days ago, she had a front tire go flat and found a slash mark in it. That day she had another flat tire while driving and it also had a suspicious mark on its sidewall. An extra watch was requested at her residence.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday for a reported protection order violation. Officers found there was not a violation at that time.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday for an unknown problem. When officers arrived, the problem remained unknown as the caller refused to speak with anyone.

— Officers responded to the area of Reilly Elementary at 3:02 p.m. Tuesday for a reported fight between juveniles. While en route dispatch advised officers that the fight had been broken up prior to officer’s arriving on scene. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juveniles involved. Officers later responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street when one of the parents of the involved children called in to report that their juvenile son had been involved in a fight after school. Officers spoke with the juvenile who confirmed that he had been in a physical altercation at the stadium with another student after school, and advised the juvenile that the school resource officer would speak with him at the school about the incident. Officers spoke with the school resource officer and was made aware of the incident.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. On arrival officers spoke with the caller who said everything was okay.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Ohio Avenue at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the parties in question, determining it to be a verbal dispute between a mother and her adult son. No physical violence was reported by either person. Officers advised all involved of the complaint.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East Pershing Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 3:28 a.m. Thursday observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic offenses, conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the driver, taking him into custody based on the results of the tests. The driver, was transported to the police department for a breath test, and blew under the legal limit. The OVI ticket was voided and the man was released.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 2:09 a.m. Thursday to assist the fire department with a call for medical attention from a woman complaining of an anxiety attack. The woman was loaded into an ambulance for transport but changed her mind and refused transport, signing a refusal for treatment and walked away from the scene.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:36 a.m. Thursday for a 911 hang-up-call. Officers made contact with a woman who advised that her son was the person who called but wasn’t at the residence and that he is deaf, which is why dispatch was unable to gather any information from the call. However, the woman advised that her son’s friend, who lives in Warren, was threatening to commit suicide and that her son was calling for help for the friend. Officers gathered the correct information for the friend and contacted the Warren Police Department to check on him.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 12:06 a.m. Thursday complaining of an anxiety attack. The fire department and EMT responded to the police department to tend to her and she advised that she wanted to be transported to S. Elizabeth’s Hospital Youngstown. She entered the ambulance, but then changed her mind and refused treatment, before leaving on foot.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that his juvenile next-door neighbor made threats to physically harm his wife and niece from across the back yard fence. Officers gathered the necessary information and made contact with the juvenile and his father, advising them of the complaint. The juvenile denied the allegations and advised that he was singing along with his music outside. Officers advised the juvenile to leave the next-door residents alone.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. Officers made contact with the caller who advised he believed his son, who lives at the same residence fired shots from his gun behind the residence. Officers made contact with the son who confirmed he did fire a shot from a nine-millimeter handgun into the ground behind the house because he saw a coyote. After a brief investigation to ensure everyone’s safety, the son was warned about shooting a firearm within the city limits.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers made contact with the female resident who advised that she was okay, and also advised that she had a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department. The woman was placed into custody and transported to the Salem Police Department where she was handed over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Fourteenth Street at 6:13 p.m. Thursday for a report of menacing. The caller advised her soon to be ex-wife was on her way to the residence to physically harm her. Upon arrival officers made contact with the ex who was already at the residence and attempting to make contact with the caller. Officers spoke with the caller who informed officers of the situation regarding the filing of the divorce, and the ex was ultimately criminally trespassed from the residence without incident.
