POLICE
Salem
— Phillip R. Cline, 49, Salem, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after officers responded to the 500 block of West Wilson Street at 1:45 a.m. Sunday where he was allegedly breaking into vehicles.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Howard Avenue at 12:40 a.m. Sunday where a resident reported someone knocking on the house in the front and back. Officers were unable to find anyone.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue at 10:53 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute and determined there had been a verbal argument regarding an incident the previous night. A juvenile was arrested for delinquency and the matter is under investigation.
— An officer responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and Franklin Street at 7:40 p.m. Saturday in reference to a reckless operator and observed the driver make several violations. The officer spoke with the driver who appeared to be in an altered mental state. Medical personnel responded and transported the driver to the hospital for evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 4:46 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported an individual from up the street had come to the door crying and requesting help. Officers spoke with the individual who said she was having a mental breakdown and could not care for her young children. Medical personnel arrived and the woman and her two children were transported to the a hospital outside the city.
— A 500 block Granite Street resident reported at 3:07 p.m. Saturday she had returned home after being away for several days and found a set of car keys and a food card missing. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue at 2:17 p.m. Saturday in reference to a water line break. Officers located the break the contacted the water department.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 12:17 p.m. Saturday in reference to a dispute and spoke with two individuals who said it was only verbal.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 11:59 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile with a warrant. Officers found the juvenile and took him into custody, eventually turning him over to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile was removed from LEADS as a runaway for which he had been entered a few days prior.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:43 p.m. Friday in reference to an irate person. They made contact with the people involved in the incident and the people were separated for the evening.
— Police assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Task Force with an investigation in the 100 block of West State Street at 3:23 p.m. Friday in which a male was taken into custody and $150 seized.
— An officer responded to the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:09 p.m. Friday in reference to a stolen bicycle.
— An officer responded to the 200 block of Woodland Avenue and 700 block of West Wilson Street at 2:30 p.m. Friday to assist Columbiana County Children Services contact three juveniles.
— Cody Allen Hostetter, 21, East Palestine, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County after officers found him walking on Washington Avenue near Oak Street at 1:29 p.m. Friday. He was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Fairview Court at 2:18 p.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the involved parties, determining the issue to be a verbal dispute between a mother and her adult son, and that no physical violence had been reported. Officers advised both parties of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 12:52 p.m. Thursday regarding a civil matter. The woman advised a contractor had done a construction job wrong at her residence and refused to fix it. The woman was advised to speak with an attorney.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 11:47 a.m. Thursday who reported his juvenile son had run away from home. The man had temporary custody of his son through the courts, who had left the prior afternoon and never returned. The man felt he knew where the boy had gone and gave the information to the reporting officer. Officers checked the residence but nobody would answer the door. The juvenile was entered into LEADS as a missing person.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of North Lundy Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Thursday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised they had witnessed an unknown person dumping trash into their dumpster. The caller was able to provide a description of the involved vehicle and officers will attempt to make contact with the owner.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 2900 block of East State Street at 10:35 a.m. Thursday for a report of fraudulent transactions in the caller’s business account. The caller had already been in contact with the bank, which will be investigating the transactions coming into the bank. The report number was given to the caller to provide the bank.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 10:14 a.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the involved man and woman who are live-in partners. The woman claimed the man, Justin Gibbs, 35, had struck her in the face, and she had physical markings. Gibbs was placed into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with domestic violence.
Leetonia
— An officer responded to the Leetonia K-12 campus at 3 p.m. Jan. 4 in reference to a young student who had fled from the building after being sent to the nurse’s office for an injury to his arm. The student was found visibly upset at Washington Street and Butcher Road and was turned over to his parents.
— Sarah M. Parent, 20, Salem, was cited for failure to stop for a stopped school bus after a Leetonia school employee reported the incident at 9:02 a.m. Jan. 4. The incident had occurred the previous day on Columbia Street.
— A 300 block Honey Lane resident reported at 10:35 a.m. Jan. 3 someone overnight had entered his unlocked vehicle and taken credit cards and other items, using them in Youngstown.
— An officer responded to the 400 block of Cherry Fork Road at 11:10 a.m. Dec. 22 in reference to to a man who was not supposed to be at a home. The man was found to be babysitting for his girlfriend and had permission to be there.
— A man was found to have damaged sidewalk grass that had just been installed at the corner of Chestnut and Main streets at 1:47 p.m. Dec. 20. The man was advised he is responsible for the damage.
Lisbon
— An officer responded to the 100 block of East Pine Street at 12:21 p.m. Jan. 5 in reference to an elderly woman who had fallen out of the shower and could not get up. Officers found the woman in her hallway who said that she had been able to clothe herself but not get up. Medical personnel arrived and helped her up.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Beaver Street at 1:26 a.m. Jan. 5 where a resident reported he was locked inside his vehicle and someone was inside his apartment. Officers found the resident inside his apartment flashing his porch light. Officers were unable to find anyone inside the apartment and EMS were requested to check on the resident.
— Officers responded to the 40000 block of state Route 154 at 1:10 p.m. Jan. 4 to assist medical personnel with a patient. The patient got in the ambulance with no issues.
— Dustin Martin, 35, Lisbon, was cited for an equipment violation following a traffic stop at Washington and Vine streets at 11:34 p.m. Jan. 3. During the stop, officers found marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending lab results.
— Officers received a call in reference to a possible runaway juvenile at 4:24 p.m. Jan. 3. The juvenile was located and returned to her guardian.
— An officer responded to a state Route 154 business at 4:17 a.m. Jan. 1 in reference to an unresponsive man behind the desk and items all over the floor. The officer found no one behind the desk and nothing on the floor. The officer then spoke with and employee who said everything was fine.
— Galphin Chavous,30, Lincolnton, Ga., was charged with OVI, improperly handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, left of center and traffic control device violation following a traffic stop at the state Route 154 and state Route 11 southbound ramp at 11:55 p.m. Dec. 31 in which he was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a loaded handgun.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Sherman Street at 9:13 p.m. Dec. 30 to assist medical personnel with a man having chest pains. The man was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
— Officers found a car parked at the Lions Club after hours at 10:51 p.m. Dec. 28. The driver said she had been in an argument with her boyfriend and pulled over. She was advised the area was closed for the night and she left without incident.
— Brandon A. Pool, 45, Muskogee, Okla., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded with the fire department to the Lisbon Days Inn on state Route 154 at 9:57 p.m. Dec. 27.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street at 10:31 a.m. Dec. 27 in reference to medical issue in which a man with MRDD was acting out. The man was cooperative with officers while EMS arrived and transported him to the East Liverpool hospital.
— Officers responded to a vacant home in the 300 block of Thomas Road at 2:19 a.m. Dec. 27 where a neighbor reported seeing someone walking around the property. Officers found all windows and doors secure, as well as footprints in the snow in the direction of a residence on Pine Street. The driveway and sidewalks were recently shoveled, but officers were unable to determine the caretaker’s identity.
— Jerrica Marie King, 21, Wellsville, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop at 1:16 a.m. Dec. 27.
— An officer responded to the 700 block of East Lincoln Way at 9:35 a.m. Dec. 26 where a man reported a neighbor’s tree had fallen onto his mother’s property, damaging his camper. He was advised that the damage is not the responsibility of the neighbor and to check with his mother’s home insurance.
— Christopher Brown, no age or address listed, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County at 1:06 a.m. Dec. 26 after he waved down an officer in the 7000 block of Dickey Drive seeking assistance contacting a homeless shelter.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Sherman Street at 3:46 p.m. Dec. 23 in reference to a domestic dispute and found there had been an argument between partners in which one individual struck the other in face for being intoxicated. One of the people involved agreed to stay in another apartment for the night.
— William Faulkner, 35, Salem, was charged with a drug offense following a traffic stop in the 42000 block of state Route 154 at 11:50 a.m. Dec. 22.
— Basil McMurray, 24, Leetonia, was charged with criminal mischief after officers responded to the 300 block of West Washington Street at 9:55 p..m. Dec. 13 where a resident reported he had egged his vehicle.
Highway Patrol
— Ryan Boykin, 19, East Palestine, was cited for failure to control after his westbound vehicle on state Route 558 drove off the right side of the roadway before overcorrecting and going off the left side of the roadway where it struck an embankment and utility pole at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.
— Dakota Maple, 28, Hanoverton, was cited for failure to control after his westbound vehicle on state Route 518 went off the right side of the road striking an embankment at 7:46 p.m. Monday in Wayne Township. Maple was transported by his wife to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
— Matthew Linzey, 53, Wooster, was cited for failure to control and OVI after his northwestbound vehicle on state Route 46 went off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning at 9:35 p.m. Dec. 30 in Unity Township. Linzey was transported to Salem Hospital by New Waterford EMS for possible injuries.
