Perry Township

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Prospect Street at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers made contact with the resident and the call was found to have been unintentional.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 8:52 p.m. Monday for a report of a possible burglary in progress. The caller advised that after she arrived home, she believed she heard someone trying to enter her home through a side door. Officers checked the door and the surrounding area and found no evidence of attempted forced entry.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of West Pidgeon Road at 8:06 p.m. Monday for a report of a possible protection order violation. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the area of Goshen Road and Beechwood Street at 7:23 p.m. Monday for a report of a man wearing all black clothing riding a bike in the roadway with no lights. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man.

— Officers responded to the U.S. Route 62 four lane near North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:01 p.m. Monday for a report of a vehicle driving the wrong way on the four-lane. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 5:18 p.m. Monday for a report of two suspicious men going door to door. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the men.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 12:28 p.m. Sunday who advised that at approximately 10:46 a.m. that day she let her dog out of the back of her house. The dog then went through the yards and entered the yard of her neighbor where an altercation took place between her dog and the neighbor’s dog, in which her dog sustained extensive injuries and was taken to the emergency vet clinic in Akron. The caller also advised that while trying to break up the fight she was bitten on the hand. Officers made contact with the other dog owner in the 1000 block of South Lincoln Avenue who advised he was aware the neighbor’s dog had gotten into a fight with his dog in his yard but was unaware of any injuries. Officers took the report and will forward it to the Columbiana County Dog Warden’s Office.

— Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:18 a.m. Sunday to assist Salem police with an unknown problem. Upon arrival it was advised a man had been assaulted and officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:18 a.m. Sunday for a report of a fight involving several people. The situation was under control when officers arrived, and officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the area of Depot Road and Snyder Road at 11:49 a.m. Dec. 31 for a report of an elderly woman on a scooter in the middle of the roadway. Officers located the woman inside the city on South Lincoln Avenue, and officers along with Salem officers made contact with the woman who advised she was on her way to the store and was fine. Officers advised her to stay on the side of the roadway and made sure she had means of emergency contact.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Cunningham Road at 4:20 a.m. Dec. 30 to assist the Columbiana County Humane Society with an investigation. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Lake Avenue at 3:32 p.m. Dec. 30 for a report of a custody dispute. Officers resolved the issue.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 6:58 p.m. Dec. 30 for a report of threats/harassment. The caller advised that he had been receiving text messages threatening himself and his daughter. Officers attempted contact with the woman unsuccessfully. While on scene officers were informed that the caller, David Augustine, 51, Salem, had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Augustine was taken into custody and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy for transportation to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Plymouth Place at 12:18 a.m. Dec. 28 for a report of two people walking through yards in the area. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 5:02 p.m. Dec. 27 for a juvenile complaint. The caller advised her 9-year-old son was not listening to her and had choked her. The caller didn’t have any visible injury, and officers advised her to contact the juvenile court for possible unruly charges. Officers spoke to the juvenile and advised him that his behavior was unacceptable, and that if it continued, he will end up in trouble.

Salem

— Officers spoke to a man by phone at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday advising of issues with a juvenile male family member. Officers spoke with the juvenile and her guardian about the issue, and advised them of their options for dealing with it.

— While on scene at a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday officers observed a woman collapse to the floor and have a seizure. The fire department and EMT were called to the scene and transported the woman to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a theft of a package from outside the residence. The package was delivered at around 3 p.m. that day, and the resident returned home within the following hour to discover it was missing. The resident subsequently observed the torn open package in a nearby yard, with the contents missing. The package had contained a pair of Nike tennis shoes valued at approximately $180.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in making contact with a man for an alleged sex offense. Officers made contact with the man who was detained and transported back to the police department for further investigation. Once the investigation was complete, officers transported the man to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday for a theft report. The caller advised that she had lost her wallet in the parking lot of the business and when her wallet was found it had money missing out of it. Officers will review security footage.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, who advised that she and her husband are separated, but still legally married, and that there was a motorcycle registered in both hers and her husband’s names that she wanted to go get. Officers advised the property was mutual and to contact a lawyer for any advice.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Merle Road at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday for an open-door complaint. Officers spoke with an employee who advised that the side door to the gymnasium was opened when he came to work. He advised that there was a basketball game last night and the door could have been left open. Officers checked the school without incident.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 12:22 a.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised he let his ex-girlfriend borrow his car and she had not returned it. Officers spoke with the ex-girlfriend via phone and she agreed to have the vehicle back by 10 a.m. that day.

— Officers on patrol in the 1400 block of East Pershing Street at 10:28 p.m. observed a vehicle parked in Centennial Park after closing. Contact was made with the occupant, who was advised of park hours and sent on her way.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday for a protection order violation. The caller advised that she received a message via Facebook from her ex a few weeks ago, and that the ex had shown up to her apartment complex and followed her through the parking lot while she was walking to the laundry area. The ex had already departed prior to officers’ arrival. The protection order was confirmed through LEADS and a warrant will be issued.

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the 100 block of West State Street at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday and departed without incident.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person to be removed. Officers spoke with the involved parties and it was determined that a family member had responded to the residence to check on her niece, and while speaking with them officers located a no contact order from the courts involving two of the people in the residence. Officers placed Camden Hoover, 18, in custody without incident for violating the order. Hoover was transported to the police department where he was processed and then taken to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for a person to be removed. Officers located the person in question and spoke with him, and he left without incident.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday for a reported hit and skip accident. A vehicle owned by Madison Markovich was unoccupied and legally parked when it was struck by an unknown vehicle that then fled the scene. Photos were taken of Markovich’s vehicle.

— Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a patron. Officers spoke with the man who stated he was okay and would be contacting his parents for a ride. Officers advised the man that per the staff of the business he was no longer welcome there.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2400 block of East State Street at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a shoplifter. The caller advised that a woman attempted to take a product from the pharmacy and attempt to pass all points of sale without rendering payment. The officers did see and obtain video footage of the incident, and the woman, Judith Wilson, 62, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail on charges of theft.

— Officers responded to the area of West School Street and East Fifth Street at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday for a parking complaint. The officers located a vehicle parked on the side walk, and made contact with the driver who moved the vehicle.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 12:29 p.m. Friday for a report of theft. The woman said that between 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. a package containing hanging lights was stolen from her porch. Officers advised her a report would be made.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 7:04 a.m. Friday for a wellness check on a man walking around in his socks. Officers spoke to the man who denied needing any medical attention. Officers gave the man a ride to his residence and advised him to call if he needed anything.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 2:11 a.m. Friday for a report of a burglary in progress. The caller advised someone was attempting to gain entry into his residence through his front door. Upon arrival the residence and surrounding area was checked but nobody was located, and the caller couldn’t give a description of the person in question.

— Officers responded to the area of Quaker Lane at 10:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area and surroundings areas, but no suspicious vehicle were found.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 9:45 p.m. Thursday for a drug overdose, finding a woman lying on the floor. Additionally, officers located contraband on a bed in the residence. The fire department arrived on scene and Narcan was administered. The woman was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment where she was served her drug overdose paperwork.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 9:04 p.m. Thursday to check on a woman. Officers found the woman to be having some medical issues, and contacted the fire department and EMT to transport her to the emergency room.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Eighth Street at 6:19 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised her mother was intoxicated and she was concerned. Officers made contact with the woman at the residence and found they had left on foot. The woman was located a few blocks from her residence, and made no comments of harm, and denied medical attention. Due to her intoxication level the female was given a ride home and given a disorderly conduct warning.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Eighth Street at 4:59 p.m. Thursday for a report that someone had taken a package off the porch of the residence at an earlier date. Officers took the report.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Sixth Street at 4:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious people squatting in a vacant residence. Officers spoke with the caller who showed officers where an unknown person had been staying in the vacant residence. Officers advised the caller of their options for handling the situation.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 3:44 p.m. Thursday to stand by with adult parole while they took a person into custody. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 2:48 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers located the alleged suspicious person and found them to be the neighbor who has resided there for some time.
