County Sheriff

— Larissa Ritteger, 37, Clarkson Road, Rogers, was charged with illegal possession of drug paraphernalia after hypodermic needles were found while she was being searched at the Columbiana County Jail. She had been taken into custody in St. Clair Township and transported to the jail in Lisbon at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday. Ritteger had been served with a secret indictment recently issued by the Columbiana County grand jury for receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly having a stolen catalytic converter in her possession, believed to be the property of Fred Hurst, on Nov. 4, 2021.

— A deputy arrived at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday in the 32000 block of Woodale Drive for a report of a possible prowler. No one was around and there was no prowler. The relative staying at the home was confused and it was confirmed no one in the home needed first responders.

— An abandoned vehicle was reported on Middle Beaver Road at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was broken down and the owner was making arrangements to get the vehicle towed.

— A welfare check was requested on Applegate Road in Wayne Township. The resident said he was fine.

— A Speidel Road resident in Hanover Township reported at 9:24 a.m. Monday that someone drove through his yard Saturday night and damaged the downspout and landscaping.

— An injured man was reported found at 9:52 a.m. Sunday in the 45000 block of Riffle Road in Elkrun Township where he was responsive but complained of severe pain in his abdomen. He said he was in the back of a pickup the night before at 8 p.m. when the truck went into a ditch and he was ejected and an ATV possibly landed on him. He said he did not know who he was with at the time. Lifeteam EMS arrived and transported him to East Liverpool City Hospital. Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived and the area was searched for evidence.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Pigeon Road at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday following numerous 911 hang ups. It was determined that the calls placed to 911 were accidental and the officer cleared the scene.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pine Lake Road at 8:32 p.m. for a report of juveniles ding-dong-ditching a house. The guardians of the juveniles were spoken to and they are handling the situation.

— Michael Miller, 62, of Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on U. S. Route 62 at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 11:55 a.m. for a report of identity theft. The caller advised that she received a letter from Cashnet stating she owed $330, and that when she called them, they stated she had walked in for a loan on July 7, 2015. The caller stated that it was not her that took out the loan. Cashnet wanted a police report faxed to them. The caller does not believe the email they provided is legitimate.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Howard Avenue at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Salem Police Department. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Shamrock Arbor Drive at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a horse on the loose. The caller advised that the horse belonged to a neighbor on Heritage Drive. Officers spoke with the horse’s owner who was able to get the horse back into the fenced area.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of 12:23 a.m. Tuesday to assist the Perry Township Fire Department and KLG with a medical call for a man with low blood sugar. When officers arrived, the man was very irate and refusing treatment. The man attempted to run away from the EMTs and officers were advised he was suicidal and refused to go to the hospital or let the EMTs treat his low blood sugar. Officers admitted the man to the hospital to undergo mental and medical treatment due to his inability to care for himself and his suicidal thoughts.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Newgarden Road at 6:40 a.m. Monday for recovered property. Officers located a Domino’s Pizza car topper in the ditch.

Salem

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Fourth Street at 1:34 a.m. Thursday for a smoke investigation. Officers located the source of the smoke, finding it to be a legal bonfire.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of East Third Street at 1:14 a.m. Thursday for a loud music complaint. Officers checked the area but heard no loud music.

— Officers respond to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Twelfth Street at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a reckless operator. The caller said this was a daily issue and the vehicle was a white Honda. Officers later found the vehicle at the owner’s residence and determined the issue was occurring outside city limits.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person. The callers advised that someone came to their house and knocked on the door, and she could hear what sounded like arguing and then the subject left. Officers checked the area, but found nobody.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Pershing Street at 2:52 p.m. Wednesday for a reported assault. Officers spoke to witnesses and an alleged victim. The assailants fled the scene and were located later. Statements were obtained and officers are awaiting the victim statement.
