County Sheriff
–A Depot Street, Rogers, man reported at 7:07 p.m. Wednesday a woman, whom he has a no contact order with through county Municipal Court, has been contacting him through text. Additionally, he claimed she had his phone and electric shut off. Deputies told him to contact the court.
— A Bell Road, Elkrun Township, man reported at 8:24 p.m. Thursday his ex-girlfriend is sending him pictures of her destroying his belongings and he cannot go to the home to speak with her because of a court order. He was told to contact the court.
— A domestic dispute was reported at a home in Rogers, at 4:19 p.m. Thursday. Deputies charged Duane I. Barnes, 51, Walnut Street, Rogers, with assault and disorderly conduct.
Salem
— Police responded to Centennial Park at 10:17 p.m. Thursday for people in the wooden playground area with flashlights after park hours. Nobody was found.
— Suspicious activity was reported at 9:32 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of East State Street where officers located two people behind a business going through a dumpster. They were told unless they had permission from the business, they could not be there. They understood and left.
— Police at 8:42 p.m. Thursday assisted an agent with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest on West State Street and seized $140 related to the investigation.
— A woman from the 1000 block of Cleveland Street reported at 7:29 p.m. Thursday that she was riding her electric bike westbound on Cleveland on the edge of the road near the curb near North Union Avenue when she said her neighbor was driving his vehicle eastbound and allegedly swerved clear left of center nearly striking her. She believed it was intentional. Officers will attempt to contact the neighbor and tell him to cease his actions.
— During a welfare check at 6:10 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of East Perry Street, juveniles said they were ok.
— Officers and fire department medics responded to a medical in the 300 block of Morgan Court. The fire department squad transported a male to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
— Officers at 5:06 p.m. Thursday assisted an agent with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the 100 block of West State Street with an alleged sex offense and seized $100 from the involved male as part of the investigation.
— Officers were called at 4:24 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of East Perry Street to assist Perry Township Police with the search for a missing juvenile, but Perry officers had already located the juvenile and were preparing to take him home.
— Noah Pennington, 19, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his southbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of a southbound vehicle driven by Elizabeth Guappone, Salem, on South Lincoln Avenue at 3:36 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
— Police at 2:46 p.m. Thursday spoke with a Minerva man in the 500 block of East Pershing Street about a possible theft, but told him the situation appeared to be civil in nature.
— The utilities department asked officers at 3:05 p.m. Thursday for an extra watch in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue, noting a vacant house has had some activity there.
— A man in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 2:47 p.m. Thursday that his vehicle was stolen while he was in jail.
— Officers and fire department medics responded at 2:24 p.m. Thursday to the Walmart parking lot for a report of a man passed out sitting in a tan truck. He said he was ok and not in need of any medical attention. No drugs/alcohol were detected or suspected.
— Police responded at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to Family Dollar, 239 W. State St., where a caller said persons were causing a scene in the store and they wanted them removed. Officers spoke with the people and they left.
— Police were called at 12:38 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Jennings Avenue for a distraught person possibly wanting to harm themselves with a knife. The man denied wanting to harm himself and said he was fine.
— Police at 11:59 a.m. Thursday responded to the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue to speak with a female regarding questions on shared property. She was told to speak with an attorney.
— Martha Wendle, 57, West 10th Street, was cited for improper backing after backing out of a driveway on West 10th Street at 8:36 a.m. Thursday and striking a legally parked vehicle.
— A clerk at Smith Oil, West State Street, reported an unknown male left without paying for $20.36 worth of gasoline.
