Police

East Palestine

— Police responded at 3:42 p.m. Saturday to the area of South Pleasant Drive, where a vehicle was reported off the road and in a ditch. The vehicle was found to be outside the village limits and the driver was impaired. The highway patrol was contacted and the man was charged with OVI.

— Police went to a North Market Street home to check on someone at 1:26 p.m. Saturday and discovered someone had broken into a nearby home.

— A village employee reported at 10:48 a.m. Saturday someone broke into a building at the Glenview Cemetery.

— A Brookdale Avenue resident reported at 8:57 a.m. Saturday someone entered his garage sometime overnight.

— A resident in the 500 block of East North Avenue, reported at 4:50 p.m. Friday a neighbor had been yelling profanities at him. Police spoke to the neighbor, who denied the accusation. Both were told to stay away from each other.

— Police responded to a domestic dispute between a mother and her young daughter at a South Market Street home at 4:46 p.m. Friday. It was determined there had been no violence or threats of violence. The mother was given some options for handling the girl, who police spoke to about her actions.

— A representative from a veteran’s service organization spoke to police at 3:58 p.m. Friday about a scam regarding the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. A report was completed and forwarded to the highway patrol.

— Police went to an East North Avenue home at 2:28 p.m. Friday in an attempt to locate a girl who had a warrant through the county juvenile court. She was taken into custody and released to a deputy so she could be transported to the Tobin Center for an upcoming hearing.

Salem Township

— A Salem Grange Road resident reported Tuesday a collection agency contacted him stating he owes over $1,000 for a Sprint account. The resident said after speaking with the representative, it appeared someone opened an account in his name.

Perry Township

— Police spoke with a woman at 11:01 a.m. Tuesday over some pictures that had shown up from her web page to another web page showing discreet pictures of her and other females she knows. She believed the pictures were hacked from her members-only web page.

— Officers responded at 6:48 p.m. Monday to Garfield Avenue for an unwanted person. A man said he wanted his adopted daughter removed from his residence after finding out she was doing drugs. She had returned from outside and smelled of marijuana and a suspected smoked marijuana blunt was found in a mason jar in the back yard. She and her newborn daughter were placed into the residence by Children Services. An officer spoke with an on-call person from Children Services while at the residence.

— A dog was reported barking while outside in a front yard in the area of Devonshire Drive and Brittney Lane at 6:46 p.m. Monday. The dog had already been taken inside when police arrived.

— Two suspicious vehicles were reported sitting in front of a residence in the 300 block of Plymouth Place at 5:41 p.m. Monday, but could not be found.

Salem

— Police responded at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Cherry Street to recover drug paraphernalia after a caller reported a relative left two hypodermic needles. The needles were recovered and destroyed.

— A possible drug overdose was reported at 9:59 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Merle Road where police spoke with a person who was coherent and admitted to taking an illegal substance. The person was taken by EMT ambulance to SRMC.

— A resident in the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 9:35 p.m. Monday reported lending a vehicle to a male for a couple of hours around 4 p.m., with the vehicle to be returned by 6 p.m., but it wasn’t. The resident wanted police to be aware in case the vehicle wasn’t returned that night.

— Police responded at 7:13 p.m. Monday to the Home Depot parking lot on East State Street for a reported fight. A couple of people said they were just having an argument over a cell phone. There were no signs of physical contact and they said they would be ok.

— A parking complaint was reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Columbia where two vehicles were parked illegally facing the wrong direction. They were moved.

— A white truck illegally parked in a no parking zone at 6:27 p.m. Monday left before police arrived.

— A dog was reported at large at 6:09 p.m. Monday at Jennings Avenue and West Eighth Street, but was not found.

— Police were called at 6:04 p.m. Monday to the Jackson Hewitt tax booth at Walmart on East State Street for a reported verbal threat towards an employee. The person was no longer in the store, but was criminally trespassed.

— Police and fire department personnel at 4:38 p.m. Monday checked the well-being of a resident in the 400 block of South Madison Avenue. The female went with EMT ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for a checkup after not feeling well.

— An intoxicated male was reported at 4:09 p.m. Monday outside his residence in the 900 block of Barclay. Police could hear music from the road and made several attempts to make contact with the male, who ignored officers and continued to yell and blare music. He was told to turn down his music and at one time became aggressive towards police. He was again warned about the music and was given a warning for disorderly conduct.

— Juveniles were reported walking in the road in the 900 block of East State Street at 2:57 p.m. Monday. Police located a group of juveniles and told them about the complaint.

— A bike found abandoned at 2:21 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Union was brought to the station.

— Kevin Pasco, 51, whose last known address was East Grant Street, East Palestine, and Danielle Simons, 45, whose last known address was Lyons Avenue, East Palestine, were both taken into custody on active warrants out of Columbiana County after a caller at 11:04 a.m. Monday reported suspicious persons in the 1200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. They were turned over to sheriff’s deputies.

— The landlord of a property on East Perry Street reported at 10:40 a.m. Monday that someone was possibly at his rental house that should not be there. An officer checked and noted it did not appear anyone was coming or going.

— A man on West Wilson Street spoke to police at 9:59 a.m. Monday about a fraudulent phone call he received on Friday from someone claiming to be from Amazon about an overpayment on his account. He gave the person some personal information and now he’s worried he was scammed. He already contacted his bank and his accounts have been frozen.

— A check found in the city was turned over to police Monday

St. Clair Township

— David Sisco was served at 9:36 a.m. Saturday in the first block of state Route 170 with a felony Columbiana County warrant, after a vehicle in which he was riding was the subject of a traffic stop.

— A stolen vehicle out of Alliance was recovered at 9:45 pm. Friday in the parking lot of Sheetz.

East Liverpool

— Police responded at 3:49 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Green Lane for a possible overdose.

Wellsville

— Officers responded at 11:10 p.m. Jan. 28 to the area of 10th and Main for a hit-and-run crash that caused minor damage to a trailer parked facing north on Main Street.

Liverpool Township

— An officer responded at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Ninth Avenue to a vehicle civil matter.

— A man reported Saturday in the 800 block of Boyd Road someone cut the catalytic converter off his box truck and Dodge Dakota sometime overnight.

— A resident of the 1100 block of Forsyth Place reported at 11:47 a.m. Sunday there have been repeated issues with her neighbors’ large German shepherd attacking other dogs, and that the neighbor is not complying with the leash law. She wanted a paper trail of reports so when the county dog warden calls her back she will have it all documented.
