County Sheriff

— A suspicious person was reported with a flashlight in the area of state Route 9, Hanover Township, at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies checked the area, but did not find the person.

— A neighbor dispute was reported by a Grant Street, Center Township, resident reported at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, but when deputies attempted to contact them for more information, they were unable to reach them.

— A neighbor dispute was reported on Seigler Road, Wayne Township, at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies arrived on the scene and met with the people involved and were able to resolve the issue after locating some property that had been misplaced.

— A woman traveling on Township Line Road reported at 7:18 p.m. Monday she was passed by a faded blue Dodge pickup heading toward state Route 45 and driven by someone wearing a baseball hat backwards with another passenger inside. When the vehicle passed her, it got close to the center of the road and someone threw an egg, which struck her window.

— Deputies checked on a child at a home on Alderlick Road, Madison Township, at 11:58 a.m. Saturday. The child appeared to be fine.

— An abandoned vehicle was reported at the Steel Valley Gas Station on First Street, Hanoverton, at 9:09 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle had broken down and the driver had left it in front of the gas pump. The owner of the vehicle called while deputies were there and said a tow vehicle was on the way there to retrieve the vehicle.

Leetonia

— An officer responded to a Hazel Street business at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a male who had been in the restroom for over an hour. The officer spoke with the male who appeared to be under the influence of a substance and showing signs of drug abuse. The officer confiscated a knife found in the male’s belt under his shirt and searched the bathroom, but found not drug items. The male was advised to leave the area.

Salem

— A 400 block Highland Avenue resident reported at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday receiving a phone call from someone who said she owes $300 for having her computer fixed. She said she did not hire anyone to fix her computer.

— An officer responded to a 2900 block East State Street business at 2:37 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a male lying in the grass. The officer stood by until medical personnel arrived.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Jennings Avenue at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a tree lying on the roof of a garage. The officer spoke with the homeowner who was already aware of it.

— Jaris L. Dickens, 49, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash at South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Street at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday in which she was northbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of the vehicle in front of her. No injuries were reported.

— An officer responded to a 500 block Fair Avenue home at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday to check on the well-being of a juvenile present during possible use of narcotics. The officer determined the juvenile was not at the home.

— Suzanne L. Elze, 67, Salem, was cited for failure to yield turning left following a two-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of East State Street at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday in which she was westbound and attempted to turn left, striking an eastbound vehicle. Both occupants of the eastbound vehicle were transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital with minor injuries.

— An officer responded to Centennial Park at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a female cursing at several juveniles. The officer found a group of juveniles with two adult females near a pavilion but they denied the complaint.

— Officers responded to a 200 block West Wilson Street home at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday where the resident reported his girlfriend would not leave following a dispute regarding money for a vehicle. They were advised it was a civil matter and the girlfriend agreed to leave.

— Janevee C. Bailes, 27, Salem, was cited for driving without a license following a traffic stop for an equipment violation at South Broadway Avenue and East Wilson Street at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday. The officer discovered an open container of alcohol and a suspected marijuana pipe. The items were confiscated and destroyed.

— Tiffany F. Mixon, 28, Bedford Heights; and Gary Allen M. Miller, 32, Middletown Road, Alliance, were both charged with theft after officers responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday where they were caught on security footage attempting to steal $373.94 worth of merchandise.

— Officers responded to a 900 block West Wilson Street home at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of a male possibly wanting to harm himself. Officers spoke with the male who said he was having a hard time but was not going to harm himself. A relative removed firearms from the home with the male’s permission.

— Officers at 10:21 p.m. Tuesday stopped a male on foot in the 100 block of West State Street after receiving a report of a male carrying a knife wanting to harm someone with it. The male said he was carrying the knife as protection because another male had called him a vulgar name and told him to meet him in the area to settle the issue. The male was advised to let the matter go and sent him on his way.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 12:41 a.m. Wednesday to speak with a male regarding an unknown issue. Officers found the male highly intoxicated and gave him a courtesy ride to an East Third Street home. He was advised to call the police department in the morning if he remembered what he wanted to report.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Newgarden Avenue at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The driver said he was parked there to watch the trains.

— A patrolling officer at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday stopped a visibly intoxicated male in the 1100 block of East State Street. The male admitted to using narcotics earlier in the day, but a consent search revealed no contraband. He was warned for disorderly conduct and advised to go straight home.

A patrolling officer at 2:51 a.m. Wednesday checked on the well-being of a male in the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue and found him visibly upset and wanting to harm himself. Medical personnel arrived and the male was transported to the Salem hospital.

Perry Township

— An officer responded to a 1700 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 9:17 a.m. Monday in reference to an unwanted male juvenile. The officer found the juvenile had already left. The resident said the 16-year-old is continuously showing up at the home wanting to talk to her 15-year-old daughter.

— An officer responded to the 1800 block of Cider Mill Road at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday where a resident reported a neighbor had been burning something the past three days and there was a lot of smoke along with a smell. The officer found a landowner burning brush from clearing land. There was a large amount of smoke, but nothing being burnt other than wood. The officer also found no one around the fire.

— An officer responded to a 1500 block North Lincoln Avenue home at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday to assist medical personnel with a patient who needed medical assistance but was refusing treatment. The officer spoke with the patient and after a short period of time he agreed to be transported to the Salem hospital.

— An officer responded to the 1200 block of Depot Road at 1:01 a.m. Wednesday where a resident reported being harassed by her neighbor. The neighbor denied the accusation. Both were advised to stay away from each other.

— Police responded with medical personnel to an 1100 block Prospect Street home at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a medical issue. Medical personnel did a lift assist on a male individual who was transported to the Salem hospital.

— Leanne Varner, 50, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield at an intersection following a two vehicle-crash at U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 and North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:49 a.m. Wednesday in which she attempted to turn left onto state Route 45/North Lincoln Avenue and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, pulling into the path of a vehicle driven by Gwendoln Jorge, 49, Austintown. Both drivers were injured in the crash and transported by ambulance to the hospital.
