County Sheriff

— A woman reported at 11:29 a.m. Monday her Craftsman riding lawn mower was stolen from her rental property on Sprucevale Road, Middleton Township. Deputies spoke to the woman who last had access to the mower, who said someone must have taken it from the garage, but she did not know who had taken it.

— A Paulin Road, Wayne Township, woman reported Tuesday her ex-boyfriend has been sending her numerous texts and calling her repeatedly since June 24. She has told him to stop, now he has repeatedly driven past the home and shown up there. Deputies spoke to the man about ceasing all contact with the woman. He claimed he returned clothes to her by placing them in her yard and he still had some things he wanted back.

— Dirt bikes were reported on the roadway on Georgetown Road near Buck Road at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday, but deputies did not locate them.

— A Sherwood Road, Yellow Creek Township, resident reported at 12:56 a.m. June 26 they heard a side-by-side or ATV at the end of the driveway, but when they turned on the porch light they could not see anyone but heard the vehicle leave. When they left to go to the store, they discovered one of the two wagon wheels at the end of the driveway was taken.

— A Willow Lane, Yellow Creek Township, resident reported at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday she heard someone open her overhead garage door and when she tried to go see if someone was in the garage, the knob to the garage would not turn, as if someone was holding it. She looked out and saw a person with a hoodie on outside the window and heard voices. Deputies checked the neighborhood.

— A possible protection order violation was reported on Plymouth Place in Perry Township at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday.

— A woman was reportedly getting violent with EMS at an East Lake Road, Hanover Township, home at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies assisted the EMS so the person could seek treatment.

— A Steubenville Pike father reported at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday he was concerned someone was knocking on the back door when his 15-year-old daughter and 9-year-old were home alone. The father arrived and could not find anyone.

Highway Patrol

— Dale E. Martin, 82, of Salineville, was traveling on state Route 164 in Wayne Township when he struck a deer at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

— Jonathan B. Persing, 47, of Youngstown, was traveling on state Route 170 in East Palestine when he struck a deer at 11:55 p.m. Monday.

— Monica L. Beener Simpson, 45, of Leetonia, was cited for improper turn onto Beeson Mill Road from state Route 344 in Fairfield Township and striking Zachary D. Yoho, 33, of Columbiana, who was at a stop sign at 4:15 p.m. July 26.

East Palestine

— Officers at 1 a.m. Wednesday discovered a broken window at the East North Avenue school. A door on the second level was open but no one was found inside.

— Officers on Wednesday found an open door at Muscle Works on East Taggart. It had been left open by workers remodeling the gym.

— Police on Tuesday found a box with several old newspaper clippings inside next to the basketball courts at the park. It was taken to the station.

— A clerk at Circle K reported Tuesday there was a male at the store causing problems for the customers. A family member came to pick him up and he was served with a no trespass order at the store’s request.

— A West Martin resident on Tuesday reported an item stolen by a kid known to him.

— The National Youth Advocacy Program reported Tuesday a girl had run away from her foster home on West Martin.

— Jerrold L. Gurney Jr. was stopped for a traffic offense on Bacon Avenue on Monday and was taken into custody on a warrant out of Maryland.

— Police at 1:30 p.m. Monday stopped a vehicle on Sumner that had fictitious plates. The driver was told to park it until he gets proper registration.

— A man reported Monday a person had his vehicle and would not return it.

— A resident reported Monday he wanted police to help him get property back from his former residence. He was told it was a civil matter.

— Officers and a bystander helped a woman who had fallen on Sumner Tuesday afternoon. She was not hurt.

— An officer at about 1 a.m. Monday heard a westbound train stop abruptly, blocking the Market Street crossing. It had a mechanical issue.

— A West Martin man reported loud music from the neighbors at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Officers told them to turn it down.

— Dairy Queen reported Sunday night a vehicle had been parked in the employee lot for some time. The owner was told to move it.

— A man called Sunday seeking advice on how to get property back from his former residence. He was told it was a civil matter and to contact the current home owner.

— A South Market resident was warned at about 10 p.m. June 27 for setting off large fireworks.

Leetonia

— An officer responded the 300 block of Somer Street at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a neighbor dispute in which a resident was trimming a tree on his side of the fence. The owner of the tree said the property owner could trim the tree but not the resident who is a renter. The resident said the property owner told him he could trim the tree. They both advised to contact an attorney.

— An officer responded to Wick Park at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday in reference to several juveniles attempting to damage the playground equipment. The officer found five juveniles on the equipment for children and advised them to stay off. The officer collected contact information for the parents of the juveniles and the park committee will check the equipment for damage.

— An officer responded to a 400 block Pearl Street home at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a fireworks complaint and spoke with the person setting them off, explaining he could possess them but not display them. He agreed to stop.

— An officer responded to a Madison Street business at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a man who was upset about his mother dying and had left on foot. The officer found the man at State and Hazel, who said he was going to walk to his home in Salem. The man was intoxicated and the officer provided courtesy ride home.

— An officer responded to a possible domestic disturbance in the area of Spruce Street and the church at 3:36 a.m. Wednesday but was unable to find anything out of the ordinary.

— An officer responded to a Pine Street home at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday where the resident reported her ex-husband was on the sidewalk causing a disturbance regarding visitation of their child. The officer determined it to be civil and the ex-husband was told not to return.

— A Salem resident reported at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday he had left his girlfriend’s vehicle at a Madison Street business overnight and when he returned, he found someone had broken out a widow, ransacking the inside, and disconnected the battery cable. Nothing was found to be missing.

Salem

— Officers responded to West Wilson Street on a report that two men were trespassing at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday. Officers checked the residence and did not find the men. They told the complainant to call the police if the men came back.

— An officer took a harassment report from a woman, who advised that her ex-husband put a letter in her mailbox despite being awarded a protection order at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday. The letter contained no threats, and the ex-husband had not been served yet, so there were no charges filed.

— While on patrol, an officer initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle for a registration issue at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday. During the stop, K-9 Argo did indicate to narcotic odor. No contraband was recovered, and a warning was given to the driver.

— Samuel J. Brown, 30, of Lisbon, was cited for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in the Aldi’s parking lot at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday.

— Officers responded to Mullins Street for a report of two people fishing on private property at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday. They were advised of the complaint and left.

— Police responded to East State Street for a report of a road rage incident occurring at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday. Police were advised that a driver was slamming on his brakes and almost causing an accident. Police spoke with the complainant and vehicle in question.

— Gerald A. Dipanfilo, 67, of Warren, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension at 1:13 a.m. Thursday. After conducting a traffic stop due to multiple marked lanes violations, officers were advised that the driver was operating on a suspended drivers license. While advising Dipanfilo of the suspension, drug paraphernalia was noticed to be inside the vehicle in plain sight.

Perry Township

— An officer responded to a report of a civil issue with a vehicle in the 200 block of Plymouth Place at 11:09 a.m. Monday. The complainant was waiting for a tow truck to remove her vehicle from her mother-in-law’s driveway, but her mother-in-law became impatient and called for another tow truck. The complainant’s tow truck arrived and removed the vehicle. Police returned to the home at 7:36 p.m. the same day to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a protection order violation and stood by until the suspect was in custody.

— An officer responded to a 1700 block Depot Road home at 3:55 p.m. Monday where the resident reported a suspicious person walking around a neighbor’s house and claiming to be looking for his dog. The officer searched the area and found a person matching the description walking in the 900 block of West Pidgeon Road. The man was identified and said he was walking to his home in Beloit. He was found not to have any warrants and was sent on his way.

— A patrolling officer assisted a motorist having an issue with a trailer he was pulling in which a wheel fell off on Cunningham Road at 10:08 a.m. Tuesday.

— An officer responded to a 400 block Benton Road home at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday where the resident reported watching a promotional video for a bicycle on Facebook and sent $89.99 for it, but never received it.

— Police responded to the 800 block of Ohio Boulevard at 5:23 p.m. June 25 in reference to a dog running loose in the neighborhood. The dog’s owner said it has a shock collar system to keep it in the yard, but it is young and sometimes just takes off on a scent. The owner retrieved the dog with no further problems.

— Police responded to a domestic disturbance report at an 800 block Georgetown Road home at 7:34 p.m. June 25 in which a male said his wife was there approximately one hour prior to the call and she left following an argument. Police spoke with the wife on the phone who said she went to get some of her belongings when they began to argue. They were advised to work things out.

— Police responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:25 a.m. June 26 in reference to a suspicious vehicle with several occupants sitting in a driveway. Police spoke with the occupants who said they had just returned from a hospital and were talking.

— A patrolling officer at Jennings Avenue and West State Street observed a highly intoxicated woman stumbling down the roadway with one shoe on at 3:38 p.m. June 26. The officer stopped the woman and contacted Salem police since she was inside the city. The woman was ultimately transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

— Police responded to the 800 block of Ohio Boulevard at 8:21 p.m. June 26 in reference to a loose dog. The owner said the dog got away from her children and they were working on ways to keep the dog inside the yard. The owner was advised of the complaint.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:57 p.m. June 26 in reference to people setting off fireworks. Officers searched the area and sat idle for a while but could not locate any fireworks.

— Police responded with medical personnel to a 1900 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 5:07 a.m. Sunday in reference to an unresponsive female. The female had a Do Not Resuscitate order and the Columbiana County Coronorer’s Office was contacted. The officer stood by until the female was loaded into an ambulance for transport to a local funeral home.

— Police responded to an 1800 block Goshen Road home at 6:13 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported her neighbor was shooting a BB gun in her direction and there had been recent issues between the two. The neighbor who said he was shooting a salt gun at flies and ants on his porch, which the officer confirmed.

— An officer responded to a 400 block Benton Road apartment at 11:02 p.m. Sunday in reference to a noise complaint, but was unable to make contact with anyone at the home.

— Police responded to at 200 block Springdale Street home at 11:17 p.m. Sunday in reference to medical call and stood by while a man was loaded into an ambulance for transport to a hospital.
