County Sheriff

— An Ellsworth Avenue, West Township, resident reported at 5:46 p.m. Wednesday someone stole a tent from his backyard.

Highway Patrol

— Ronald Yonkey III, 38, of Minerva, drove off the side of Rochester Road in West Township and struck a ditch at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 12. He was not cited due to the poor conditions of the road.

— Willie J. Garrett, 62, of Texas, was cited for traffic control devices when he was traveling in a semi on Georgetown Road in Homeworth and struck an overhead railway bridge at 8 p.m. Feb. 13.

— Dakota J. Mahon, 26, of Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after traveling off the side of U.S. 30 in Madison Township and striking a ditch at 9:54 p.m. Feb. 12.

Lisbon

— An Alice Drive resident reported Thursday receiving a call from someone claiming to be her grandson and that she needed to pay his bond so he could get out jail. The woman said she would have her attorney contact him, and then she checked and learned her grandson was fine. This is common scam in which the caller wants personal information, but the woman provided none. An officer called the “grandson” and he hung up.

Salem

— Alan Price, 56, of East Sixth Street, was cited for OVI and failure to maintain reasonable control after police were called to the 1700 block of East State Street for an intoxicated driver who left Burger King and struck another vehicle in the rear bumper while in the drive-thru at Taco Bell in the 1800 block at 12:44 a.m. Thursday. The driver whose vehicle was struck did not stay since there was no damage to his vehicle. Police found Price and his vehicle at his residence and found him impaired. He was taken into custody and cited at the station, then given a courtesy ride back to his residence.

— No citations were issued after police investigated an accident at West Pershing and Howard at 7:07 p.m. Wednesday. A vehicle driven by Emily Ehrenberg, 23, of Morris Avenue, was westbound on Pershing and the driver said she didn’t see the other vehicle, which was northbound on South Howard driven by John Carlariello, 60, of Newgarden Avenue. According to the report, Ehrenberg believed the other driver failed to stop at the stop sign, while the other driver, Carlariello, said he stopped and the female’s vehicle struck his vehicle when he was halfway through the intersection. No injuries were reported.

— A woman on Continental Drive reported fraud at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday, advising an IT company had access to her bank account and attempted to take a large sum of money. Her bank had already been contacted and stopped all transactions. She was advised not to give out personal information over the phone or on the Internet.

— Cody Barham, 26, of Rose Avenue, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and taken into custody on an active warrant for failure to appear on an aggravated drug possession charge after police found him at a residence where no one was supposed to be at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday. Police were on patrol in the alley in the 600 block of East Third Street when they saw a male on the back porch of the residence in question, where there had been recent break-ins also. The male was identified as Barham. who had warrants out of the county. While he was at the police station, several drug paraphernalia items were recovered. Further charges are pending. He was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy and taken to jail.

— Scott Rudder, 56, of 284 E. Fourth St., was charged with assault, obstruction and resisting arrest and taken directly to jail from the scene after police were called at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of East Fourth Street for an assault. Police determined one of the residents, later identified as Rudder, struck an elderly female in the face, causing her nose to bleed. Officers attempted to detain the person and he attempted to run from officers and was taken to the ground. He continued to fight officers as they placed him in custody.

— Alyssa Woods, 19, of East Fourth Street, came to the station at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday to turn herself in for a warrant. for larceny-theft and was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.

— No citation was issued related to an accident at East State and Cunningham due to conflicting accounts, but one driver, Barbara Cox, 47, of East Palestine, was cited for no license. Her vehicle was eastbound on State and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Ashley Rudloft, 30, of Mound Street, in the intersection at 7:27 a.m. Wednesday. Both drivers said they had the green light. With no third party witnesses, officers were unable to determine who was at fault.

— Police were called at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of Olive Street to check the welfare of a female at the business who was refusing to leave. She was taken to SRMC for evaluation.

West Point

— Firefighters were called to a two-vehicle accident with injuries on Mattix Road 2:13 p.m. Wednesday.
