St. Clair Township

— Officers continue an investigation into an incident Saturday afternoon involving a city woman and a Walmart employee. According to a police report, the Walmart employee reported at 12:38 p.m. Saturday that he was collecting shopping carts when a red vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and on the wrong side of the aisle, struck a cart he was collecting and the cart machine before knocking him to the ground. He added the vehicle almost hit him. An officer had stopped by the store for the East Liverpool Police Department’s shop with a cop event. The whole encounter was caught on video. After almost striking the employee, the car’s driver, who also had almost struck a man carrying a child, entered the store. Charges are pending against the car’s driver.

–Police investigated a disturbance shortly after midnight Dec. 15 in the 16000 block of Canton Avenue.

–Officers performed a welfare check at 2:07 p.m. Dec. 13 in the 48000 block of Bloomfield Avenue, after a man visiting his father expressed concern about harming himself.

— Terry L. Davis, no address listed, was cited at 11:23 a.m. Dec. 13 near state Route 11 and Westfield Road with no driver’s license.

— Police were dispatched shortly after midnight Dec. 14 to the 48000 block of Bloomfield Avenue to investigate someone being inside or around the house. No one was discovered.

–A subject was taken into custody in the 49000 block of McCoy Avenue by township police for Salem police at 2:17 a.m. Dec. 14.

Sheriff’s office

— A Depot Road, Salem Township, resident reported at 11:47 p.m. Friday his son and his girlfriend are arguing and both had been drinking. Deputies spoke to the couple, who said they were just arguing. Deputies waited until her ride arrived.

— A suspicious white pickup with utility boxes in the back was reported driving into a Darner Road, Elkrun Township, yard at 12:07 a.m. Friday. The man in the truck reportedly was getting out of the truck and dancing to country music. The woman who lived there yelled at him and he reportedly pulled back out into the roadway, before stopping and dancing around again. The vehicle then continued another 200 feet south on Darner Road and stopped again, but that time she could not see what he was doing. Deputies checked the area for the suspicious vehicle, but it was not found.

— A private property accident was reported at the Auburn Skilled Nursing on Valley Road, Salem, after a CARTS transport vehicle swiped a stone pillar at 6:10 a.m. Dec. 10.

— Deputies were asked to check on a child at a Salem-Unity Road, Salem Township, address at 12:26 a.m. Friday when the residents were not at home. However, they arrived about 20 minutes later and the child appeared to be fine.

— A McCloskey Road, Unity Township, farmer reported at 8:13 a.m. Thursday someone stole between 20 and 30 bales of straw or hay from his barn. His grandson was going to check the trail camera and let deputies know if they find something. The square bales are usually sold for $5. It has been an ongoing issue with someone stealing bales every four or five days.

— Deputies responded a reckless driver reported westbound on U.S. Route 30 coming toward County Home Road from Lisbon at 1:07 p.m. Thursday. The operator of the vehicle was driving left of center and all over the road. Deputies got behind the vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of Pidge’s Place at the corner of state Route 172 and Baker Road. The driver, Steven Baddeley, 35, Spillway Road, Lisbon, was cited with driving under suspension, and the vehicle was towed.

Highway Patrol

— Delmar W. Hardy, 76, of Malvern, was cited for failure to control when he drove off the side of Stump Road in West Township and caused damage to two residential yards at 4:24 p.m. Dec. 8. Hardy said he does not remember the events surrounding the crash and that he blacked out due to low blood sugar.

— Bonnie L. Hahn, 65, of Columbiana, was cited for failure to control when she drove off the side of state Route 344 in Fairfield Township and struck utility pole at 7:34 p.m. Dec. 9.

— Laura R. Waters, 17, of Salem, was cited for improper passing after sideswiping Gary L. Wilms, 79, of Leetonia, who was traveling on state Route 14 in Fairfield Township at 6:54 p.m. Friday.

— Kenneth E. Pasco, 52, of New Waterford, was cited for failure to control when he drove off the side of state Route 517 in Elkrun Township and struck a ditch at 4:37 a.m. Saturday.

Columbiana

— Officers were dispatched to a reckless driver call in the area of Hawkins Lane at 11:19 p.m. Sunday.

Salem

— Stark County Sheriff’s Office called at 1:59 a.m. Monday to request a welfare check on a woman who had been advised to respond to the Salem Police department. Stark County had received third party information that the woman’s ex-husband showed up at her location in Stark County and may have possibly forced her to leave with him. They had gotten in contact with her while she was in transit to Salem and told her to go to the police department. The report said she arrived and told police everything was fine. She appeared to be with her ex-husband by free will.

— A man came to the station at 10:53 p.m. Sunday to report his grandfather has been making threatening comments towards him through a third party. An officer phoned the grandfather who said no threatening comments had been made. He also said he didn’t want any contact with his grandson. Officers told him if there is an issue taking place at the residence to call the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office since it’s in their jurisdiction.

— A woman delivering packages for Amazon reported at 6:45 p.m. Sunday that an unknown person in a red truck was following her around and flashing their lights at her. She said the driver of the truck then went around her and left the area. Officers didn’t find the truck.

— Police responded at 4:10 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Springdale Street to assist Perry Township Police on a child custody dispute call. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— A woman from Wellsville called at 2:11 p.m. Sunday and said her daughter was at a residence in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue and she wanted her to come home. Officers were able to locate the daughter and brought her to the station to wait for her mother.

Perry Townshp

— Police responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road for suspicious activity reported at 9:20 p.m. Sunday. A spokesman said an employee heard someone at the locked back door who attempted to gain entry into the business. Officers found the people were gone and spoke to the spokesman who was outside with a family member. There were no signs of forced entry to the door.

— A suspicious person was reported in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:01 p.m. Sunday. Officers made contact and the person said they were just waiting for a family member to pick them up.

— Police responded to the 400 block of Springdale at 4:07 p.m. Sunday for a civil custody dispute. A woman said she was there to pick her daughter up when a physical altercation occurred between her and the child’s father while the child was being placed in the vehicle. Officers also spoke to the father. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

— Police were called at 2:05 p.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of Prospect Street to Salem Acres apartment complex where a woman said she and the maintenance supervisor were having issues regarding the furnace at the apartment. She said he was raising his voice and yelling for no reason and she was worried about her safety. The maintenance supervisor denied raising his voice and told police he was only cautioning her about using her stove to heat the apartment.

— A woman from Salem reported a hit/skip at 7:53 p.m. Saturday in the area of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road, saying she was westbound on state Route 344 when a northbound vehicle on Cunningham Road ran the stop sign and struck her vehicle. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front driver side wheel. The other vehicle fled the scene.

— A custody issue was reported at 5:59 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of West Perry Street. A man said his mother and father were trying to take his children from the residence. Officers advised his parents of the legal action they would have to take to get custody of their grandkids. Police had been called to the same residence at 6:25 p.m. Friday for a welfare check after family members said the father of two juveniles was intoxicated and unable to care for them. Officers could see the father was highly intoxicated and told him the juveniles were going to stay with the family members for the night and he could pick them up in the morning when he sobered up.

— Kimberly Wallace, 45, of Louisville, was cited for driving under suspension and expired registration after a traffic stop at 4:03 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 62 near North Lincoln Avenue. The vehicle was towed and Wallace was taken to Circle K West until a family member could pick her up.

— Beth A. Hays, 28, of Salem, was taken into custody at Salem Acres in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 1:03 p.m. Friday on an active warrant for child endangering and domestic violence, both misdemeanors. She was taken to the Columbiana County jail.

Lisbon

–Police responded to a request for medical assistance at Apple Grove apartments at 2:22 a.m. Sunday and remained until an ambulance arrived and transported the person to a local hospital.

–The manager of Valley View reported Wednesday a motorist drove away with the gas nozzle still in the car. The driver apologized and agreed to pay for any damage.

–Tyler Reynolds of East Palestine reported an air compressor he brought to his brother’s home on South Lincoln Avenue was stolen from his yard overnight on Dec. 10. He said air compressor belongs to his grandmother.

–Police responded to a residential alarm drop on Garfield Avenue at 7:09 a.m. Dec. 7 but the residence was found to be secure.

–Police responded to a request for medical assistance at a West Washington Street residence at 8:25 p.m. Friday and remained until EMTs arrived and transported the elderly woman to a local hospital.

Hancock County Sheriff

–Timothy Hampson, 36, Weirton, was cited for domestic battery, battery, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, attempted murder, malicious assault, and brandishing a weapon on Dec. 2.

— Stephanie Suggs, 27, Weirton, was cited for child abuse by parent on Dec. 2.

— Cameran Miller, 28, New Cumberland, was cited for fugitive from justice on Dec. 3.

— Autumn Stimpak, 21, Weirton, was cited for possession of methamphetamine and no operators license on Dec. 10.

— John Stevens, 47, Weirton, was cited for possession of meth on Dec. 10.

— Dalton Lancaster, 28, New Cumberland was cited for possession of meth on Dec. 10.

— Lena Craig, 23, New Cumberland, was cited for possession of meth on Dec. 10.

–Joseph Strapazzon II, 37, New Cumberland was cited for DUI and possession of crack on Thursday.

–Gaven Heiney, 22, Wellsville, Ohio, was cited for delivery of adderall, transport of adderall into the state with intent and conspiracy on Thursday.

— Christopher Nixon, 40, Newell, was cited for delivery of crack on Thursday.

— Kacy Harris, 30, Columbus, Ohio, was cited for possession of marijuana, conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver cocaine on Thursday.

–Virgil Holderby, 35, Midland, Pa., was cited for DUI on Saturday.
