Police

County Sheriff

— Deputies responded to Olive Branch Ministries in Salem Township at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday where a client reportedly was threatening others with a sharp object. The director, Timothy Young, said one of the clients had been acting out on Tuesday and told him he could kill him. He held a wood carving tool near Young’s neck at one point, but Young was able to convince him to calm down. Another client heard about it and called Wednesday to report it. The man is going to remain at the facility, but is being warned against further aggressive issues.

Highway Patrol

— Raylene Thomas, 85, of East Liverpool, was cited for unsafe movement when she exited a left turn lane and attempted to return to the straight lane and struck Lori L. Ashley, 43, of New Cumberland, WV, on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday.

— Guerino E. Thomas, 52, of Girard, was driving on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township when he struck a deer and traveled off the side of the roadway and struck a guardrail at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.

— Christine Costa, 55, of Salem, was arrested for operating a vehicle impaired and cited for driving left of center when she struck Alexis M. Faudree, 16, of Alliance, who was at a stop sign on Hartley Road in Butler Township at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday.

— Kyle D. Wilkinson, 25, of Rogers, was stopped at a red light on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township when a vehicle struck him in the rear at 7:17 p.m. Sunday. When Wilkinson moved to a nearby parking lot to assess the damage, the other vehicle continued southbound without stopping.

— Kelly L. Brenner, 45, of Sebring, was traveling on U.S. 62 in Knox Township when she struck a deer at 7:05 p.m. Monday.

Columbiana

— Thomas R. Belan Jr., 42, was charged with harassing a police dog and criminal mischief on Apache Lane at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday. He attempted to assault K-9 Csuti and struck the K-9 police cruiser.

— A homeowner reported that a yellow box truck damaged their mailbox and drove away at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday.

Liverpool Township

— Eric Shawn Miller, Eighth Avenue, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Oct. 22 near Seventh and Homestead on OVI and failure to control, after allegedly failing to negotiate a turn and striking a stop sign before ending up in a ditch while intoxicated.

— Brandi N. Pardell, Irish Ridge Road, was not cited at 7:26 a.m. Oct. 13, after she was involved in a crash near Armstrong and Parkway, as she allegedly swerved to miss a family of deer, struck a guardrail and then a tree.

–Michael J. Salsberry, Carolina Avenue, was not cited after a single vehicle accident at 4:15 a.m. Oct. 8. He was traveling on Armstrong Avenue, when his brakes allegedly gave out, causing him to go through the intersection of Parkway and Armstrong and strike a guardrail head on.

Perry Township

— Police were contacted at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday about a weapon left in a rental vehicle by the previous renter who called to report the weapon accidentally left behind. Police took control of the weapon until the owner can respond.

— Township police and Salem police both responded to the 200 block of Stewart Road in an attempt to make contact with a person believed to be involved in a hit/skip accident within the city limits. No one came to the door, but the vehicle used in the hit/skip was on the property hidden behind the garage. Police took pictures and left.

— An alarm drop was reported at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday at Pilbrico in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The exterior of the business was checked and all doors were secure.

— An officer responded at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday to a two-vehicle accident on Hartley Road at Georgetown Road with one driver possibly intoxicated and attempting to leave the scene. Both vehicles were there and the officer made contact with one person until the Ohio State highwap patrol arrived to handle the investigation.

— Police responded at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday to Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary on Depot Road for a report of theft, with a representative reporting someone opened up a credit card under the Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary business name with a $3,500 credit limit. The credit card company was contacted and placed a hold on the account.

Salem

— Ted Ingledue, 29, of 184 Jennings Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant for theft by deception and charged with drug paraphernalia after officers checked a residence on Jennings Avenue for a male with an active warrant at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday. Officers were granted permission from a resident to search the property and found the male. During a search incident to arrest, drug paraphernalia with suspected narcotics were found in his pocket. The item was seized for testing and he was told additional charges may come depending on lab results.

— Jamarcus Jacobs, 27, of 672 N. Lincoln Ave., was charged with theft after police were called at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday to Walmart for employee theft. He allegedly stole over $11,000 over the past few months. Police said Jacobs he did steal the money to use for personal expenses. He was taken to jail.

— Criminal trespassing was reported at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of East Third Street after a boy said he was in his residence and his dog ran downstairs. When he went downstairs, there was a man standing in the home that he did not know. The man was wearing a black shirt, gray shorts, had brown hair and glasses. The bpy told the man to leave and he said he thought it was his friend’s house, then left walking east. He wasn’t found.

— A woman from Canton came to the station at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday to report she accidentally left her firearm in the glovebox of a car she rented in Alliance and was told the person who rented the vehicle next was at work in Salem. Officers learned the vehicle was in Perry Township and township police already had the weapon. The woman was told to respond to the township.

— A motorist flagged down police at 3:05 a.m. Thursday regarding a county school bus parked with its four-way flashers going in a municipal lot near the Salem News. Police found the bus secure with no way for officers to turn off the lights.

— Police were called at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of South Broadway for a medical incident involving an intoxicated female. She was transported to the hospital.

— A caller at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday reported a man inside a vehicle with a flashlight in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, thinking it was suspicious. Police checked and learned the man owned the vehicle.

— Police at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday checked the area of Franklin Avenue near the city limits for a teen girl walking in the road. A male told police she got into a vehicle before officers arrived.

— Police were called at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday to Sugartree Alley and East Second Street for a complaint about a county school bus sitting with its flashers on for over an hour. The bus was gone when police arrived.

— An open door was reported at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Seventh Street where a woman said she arrived home to find the front door open. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside and found no damage to the door or lock. She was told to call if she finds anything missing or out of place.

— Officers backed up the sheriff’s office on warrant checks at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday on Prospect Street and at 6:54 p.m. Wednesday on Newgarden Avenue. Men were taken into custody.

— Police were called at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Filbert and East Wilson to check the well-being of a male, who was found intoxicated. He was told to return to his residence and stay inside for the night.

— A woman from Liberty Street reported at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday that her son was playing at a nearby playground and another kid touched him inappropriately. The other child’s name was provided to police, who were investigating.

— A wallet found in the 2900 block of East State Street was turned over to police at 4:29 p.m. Wednesday.

— A child custody dispute was reported at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday at Reilly School where a parent had attempted to pick up a child despite not having custodial rights. The other parent was contacted and did respond to the school to retrieve the child.

— The owner of a trailer was told it needed to be moved at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday because it was blocking an alley in the 900 block of South Union Avenue. Police had received a complaint.

— A woman from the city reported at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday that her ex-boyfriend pushed open a door and hit her with it while she was talking on the phone with her grandma. He then took the phone out of her hand and left. Police will try to contact him.

— Officers and administrators spoke with some students at the high school at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday regarding some issues on social media.

— A resident in the 900 block of South Union Avenue reported at 10:41 a.m. Wednesday that a yard decoration was stolen.

— Police checked in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge for a woman at 8:06 a.m. Wednesday and learned she was taken to the hospital.

— A man in the 300 block of Woodland reported at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday that someone entered his vehicle and change and a backpack were missing.
