Perry Township

— A shooting complaint was reported at 5:03 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Manor Drive. Police found the shots coming from the 1700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, made contact and found everything to be ok.

— All was secure after an alarm at a Brookview Drive residence at 4:54 p.m. Saturday.

— A tan-colored pit bull was reported running around in the 1100 block of Andrew Avenue at 10:19 a.m. Saturday. The caller said the dog ran down Elberon Avenue after she called, but police were unable to locate the dog.

— A cell phone was found in the parking lot of Circle K South on South Lincoln Avenue and turned over to police at 2:13 a.m. Saturday. A woman who was in the contacts said the phone belonged to her son and he would pick it up.

— A woman in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported an unruly juvenile at 3:27 p.m. Thursday, telling police her 16-year-old son was hitting her and her daughter and that he was throwing rocks at his sister while waiting for the bus Thursday morning. Police spoke with him about his behavior. The woman was told to call when the assault is happening.

— A man in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue spoke with police at 5:44 a.m. Sunday about his juvenile daughter who had left the residence. He believed she was in Salem, but when police knocked on the door of the location in Salem, nobody answered. The man was advised of his options. He was waiting to see if she came home. He also reported someone may have gone through his unlocked vehicle, due to the door being found opened.

— Salem Police requested Perry Township officers at 2:42 a.m. Sunday go to Old Coach Lane to speak with the parents of a person they were out with on a suspicious persons report, asking why the person wasn’t allowed at the residence. The father said he was in the process of evicting his son and the son left of his own free will. He was told since the eviction wasn’t fully processed, the son could return if he wanted.

Salem

— Police, fire department first responders and EMT ambulance responded at 4:02 a.m. Monday to the 300 block of West Wilson Street for an open 911 line, finding that a man needed medical attention. He was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.

— A caller at 1:54 a.m. Monday reported someone in a gold truck honking the horn and yelling in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver and front seat passenger were both juveniles and both were released to their parents after the driver was cited for expired license and no seat belt. The back seat passenger, who owned the vehicle, was released with the vehicle.

— Police were called at 12:13 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of Washington Avenue for a male shining a flashlight into vehicles. The person wasn’t found, but the caller said he headed south. Police found a male on Ridgewood who matched the description and clothing but said he had no involvement. Nobody else was found.

— A child was reported in the road at 8:59 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Boulevard and Franklin, but nobody was found.

— Police responded at 7:31 p.m. Sunday to Centennial Park for juveniles messing with structures. The juveniles were told not to mess with park property.

— A possible open door was reported at 7:17 p.m. Sunday at an abandoned house on Aetna Street. The front door appeared to be forced open, but police checked all the entrances to the house and found them secure.

— A man in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue reported at 6:31 p.m. Sunday that medication was missing from the residence.

— A reckless operator was reported at 4:37 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Boulevard and South Lincoln Avenue in a vehicle now at a residence in the 1300 block of South Lincoln. Police found that the driver’s dog became sick which was the cause of the woman’s driving. She was told she should have pulled over and turned on her emergency flashers.

— A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1500 block of East Third Street at 4:17 p.m. Sunday after a woman reported arriving and finding an unknown vehicle parked in her drive. The vehicle had been entered as stolen. The owner was contacted to retrieve the vehicle.

— A shoplifter was reported at 3:04 p.m. Sunday at Home Depot, 2900 E. State St. and escorted off of the property. Charges are pending. An asset protection employee said the person left without paying for an item.

— Police responded at 2:58 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue where a woman wanted to know if she could get in trouble if she took her husband’s keys from him because he had been drinking and did not have a license. Officers explained she could get a citation if she allowed him to drive the car knowing he did not have a valid license.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 2:46 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Monroe Street.

— A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of East State Street, last seen heading west on state Route 14. The vehicle was not found.

— A woman in the 700 block of West State Street reported at 1:48 p.m. Sunday that a male keeps texting her from different numbers. She showed officers multiple text messages from the male. Contact will be made with him to stop texting the woman.

— An investigation was pending after officers responded at 1:35 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of Granite Avenue for dogs at large and found both dogs attacking one another. Officers deployed pepper spray on the dogs to get them to separate and were able to secure one of the dogs before they ran away. The dog warden was contacted and took possession of one dog. A notice was left by the dog warden on the residence of the dog owner.

— An officer spoke to a woman in the 2000 block of East State Street at 12:25 p.m. Sunday who saw a duffle bag fall off the back of a scooter and turned it over to police for safekeeping.

— Brock Menough, 33, of East Sixth Street, is facing several citations after two separate accidents within two hours of each other Sunday morning in which he backed into other vehicles while at a stop sign. He was cited for driving under suspension and failure to control after the first accident on Cedar Street near South Lincoln at 10:20 a.m. when he was stopped at the stop sign and his vehicle coasted back, striking a vehicle driven by David Fitch Jr., 68, of East Euclid Street, who tried to avoid getting struck by backing up but still was struck. The Ram truck Menough was driving was towed away. At 12:11 p.m., Menough was driving a Chevy Blazer belonging to someone else and was waiting in traffic and backed up on Hawley at East State, striking the front of a vehicle driven by Karen Beiling, 59, of Edgewood Drive, and then leaving. Police found him and he was again cited for driving under suspension, along with improper backing and hit/skip leaving the scene.

— A license and credit card found in the 200 block of East Second Street were turned over to police at 10:32 a.m. Sunday.

— A runaway juvenile was reported at 9:56 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Cherry Street. A woman said her granddaughter ran away during the morning hours. Officers were unable to find her after checking several locations. She was entered into the law enforcement data base.

Leetonia

— An officer responded to a 100 block Oak Street home at 1:06 p.m. Sept. 12 where the resident had a medical emergency and could not reach the door. Medical personnel arrived and found that the resident had reached the door to let them in.

— An officer was advised of a dark colored SUV without lights coming into Leetonia on state Route 344 by the industrial park at 6:10 a.m. Sept. 13. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined it was the driver’s error. The driver was given a verbal warning.

— An officer performed a welfare check on a resident at a 300 block Ridge Street home at 8:46 a.m. Sept. 13 after the resident’s mother said she could not reach her. The resident said she was fine and her phone was not working.

— An officer responded to the 400 block of Columbia Street at 1:30 p.m. Sunday where a resident reported the neighbor’s dog had been getting into his yard through a hole in the neighbor’s fence and had appeared aggressive. The neighbor was advised to fix the fence and that he is responsible if the dog injures someone.

— An officer assisted Washingtonville police on a traffic stop on West Main Street and Smedley Drive at 7:08 p.m. Sunday in which the driver was to use a PBT breath analyzer for alcohol. The driver was found to be below the legal limit. Washingtonville police cited the driver for a traffic offense.

— An officer responded to a 300 block Columbia Street home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday where the resident reported hearing the sound of a dog being abused. The officer spoke with the surrounding neighbors and could not find a dog being abused.
