County Sheriff

— A caller reported there was a vehicle at Phil’s Sales and Service, state Route 164, Fairfield Township, at 7:17 a.m. Saturday. A deputy spoke with Peyton M. Adams, who had heavy front-end damage to her vehicle. The state patrol was called due to Adams being involved in a crash.

— Joseph Kitzmiller reported Friday a mower was stolen from his father’s farm on Bandy Road, Knox Township, which is currently for sale.

— A caller reported there was an explosion somewhere on Millrock Road, Middleton Township, at 7:56 p.m. Friday. A deputy checked the area but did not find anything unusual.

— A deputy was asked to check on the well being of a juvenile living at a Depot Road residence in Center Township at 9:28 p.m. Friday. The girl was located and she was fine.

— A caller reported there was a suspicious vehicle at the New Day Recovery Center, Union Ridge Road, Middleton Township, at 9:55 p.m. Friday, but it was gone by the time a deputy arrived.

— A caller reported a customer at Burtzland Outfitters, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, was threatening to kill himself and his wife at 6:13 p.m. Thursday but he had since left. The man was from Alliance, and the sheriff’s office contacted police there to check on the couple.

— A resident of Bayard Road, Knox Township, called at 12:02 a.m. Saturday to say he had not seen his wife since 5:30 p.m. and was concerned for her safety. He called back later to say he made contact with his wife, and she was fine.

— A deputy was called to a domestic dispute on 18th Street Heights, Yellow Creek Township, at 1 a.m. Saturday, but it turned out to be an argument only.

— Deputies were called to a domestic situation at 11290 state Route 170, Middleton Township, at 12:27 p.m. Saturday. They learned a man had been throwing things around the house, and his mother said it because he was upset about not having any drugs. Her son’s right hand hand has swollen after taking drugs, so an ambulance was called and he was transported to a local hospital.

— A woman who lives at 42100 Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township, called at 1:26 p.m. Saturday because her brother was there and she wanted him to leave. She said he left the house but was still on the property, which she was told is acceptable since his name is attached to the property. She was told to call back if he should come back in the house.

— A deputy was called Saturday to the Discount Drug Mart outside of Lisbon in regard to a shoplifter. The deputy arrived but was told staff handled the situation and no longer needed any assistance.

— Jeanne Chefalo, Old Route 45, Madison Township, reported Saturday trucks had dumped asphalt on her property. The deputy spoke to a Lindy supervisor at the location where the trucks were coming from and he was aware of the complaint. The supervisor said the material would be cleaned up by today.

Salem Township

— James Dunko, Grafton Road, reported Friday someone opened an account in his name and charged $1,432 to it at a Nordstrom store in New Jersey.

Salem

— Police were called to a possible domestic dispute at 447 Continental Drive at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, but it was an argument only.

— A motorist drove off from Smith Oil without paying for their gas at 8 a.m. Saturday. Police locate the vehicle and told the driver to return to Smith’s and pay for the gas.

— Police responded to a report having a possible drug overdose on East Third Street at 11:22 a.m. Saturday. The man was found lying on the ground and taken by ambulance to the hospital. The incident remains under investigation.

— A prescription pill bottled with what appeared to be marijuana wrapped in a plastic bag inside was found on North Lincoln Avenue at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

— Pauline A. Spratt, 81, Continental Drive, pulled onto Continental Drive and her vehicle was struck in the side by a vehicle operated by Sandra J. Balog, 78, at noon Saturday. The parties made arrangements to take care of the accident between themselves.

— A barking dog complaint was received at 325 W. 10th St. at 11:31 a.m. Saturday. Police could hear what sounded like several dogs inside but no one was home and would check back later.

— A caller reported a man was driving with a child on his lap on East State Street at 12:06 p.m. Saturday. Police caught up with Anthony J. Weaver, 43, who said he had to do what he had to do to get to the store. There was no car seat in his vehicle, so Weaver was cited with failing to place his child in a vehicle restraint. His wife was contacted to pick up the child.

— A barking dog complaint was received at 975 S. Lundy Ave. at 2:29 p.m. Saturday. The woman who lived there said they had only been barking for a few minutes, and the officer did not hear anything when he arrived.

— Police were called to a neighbor dispute in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 3:31 p.m. Saturday. The caller was advised to contact the landlord to resolve the dispute.

— A report of possible squatters at 1083 Cleveland St. was received at 5 p.m. Saturday. The man said they had just arrived and had his uncle’s permission to be there, which was confirmed by the uncle. A copy of the report was going to be sent to the city housing and zoning department.

— A report of juveniles fighting at Centennial Park at 6:39 p.m. Saturday. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer.

— Police were called to a domestic dispute at 444 Sharp Ave. at 9:18 p.m. Saturday, which turned out to be a mother and daughter arguing over who was going to do the dishes. The daughter decided to leave to defuse the situation.

— Phyllis E. Rance, 60, Prospect Street, was charged with OVI and a marked lanes violation following a traffic stop on East State Street at 10:19 p.m. Saturday. The officer reportedly saw someone throw a beer bottle out of the passenger side window of the vehicle.

— Police came across a man in the Speedway parking lot at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, and he said he had been waiting for two hours for someone to pick him up. The man had been drinking, so police called for a cab to take him home.
