County Sheriff

— David and Anne Lewis, Glasgow Road, Salineville, reported at 2:09 p.m. Monday they had been sitting on their porch on Saturday when a brown pitbull mix dog came onto the porch. The dog was not causing any problems until it noticed a cat inside the house. At that point, the dog reportedly became very aggressive, knocked down Anne Lewis, got inside the house and attacked the cat, which had to be put down due to its injuries. Anne Lewis was treated at the emergency room due to injuries from the dog and when her cat bit her during the altercation. Additionally, they heard the dog got out before, attacking a dog on Day Road and another neighbor’s animal also. At the time of the report, the dog was reportedly being kenneled at the home of Richard Baker and his father on Seigler Road. The dog warden was notified of the situation.

— Tasha Ackerson, Main Street, Homeworth, reported at 7:04 a.m. Monday five vehicles had the license plates stolen and two of the tires on their trailers were slashed.

— While patrolling in Yellow Creek Township at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, deputies found a crew doing chip and seal for the county engineer’s office. Crew foreman Doug Ketchum reported there were batteries stolen from one of their trucks parked overnight Wednesday. Then over the weekend someone took two 20-foot heavy tie down chains and two ratchet binders from a trailer used to move the equipment from one site to another. There have been quite a few vehicles in the area during the daylight hours.

Highway Patrol

— Richard G. Dallies, 67, Lincoln Street, East Liverpool, was eastbound on Alderlick Road in Madison Township at 9:42 p.m. Saturday and was struck by Brandon Austin Prince, 18, Carrollton, who was southbound on McCormick Run Road and made a right turn onto Alderlick Run Road and went left of center. Prince was cited for stop sign.

— Mark R. Macek, 55, Brushville Road, East Palestine, was southbound on Beard Road in Unity Township at 2:56 p.m. Sunday and went off the right side into a three mailboxes before overturning. He was cited for failure to control and OVI.

— Dylan James Goodfellow, 17, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, was northeastbound on Columbiana-Lisbon Road in Fairfield Township at 5:30 a.m. Monday and went off the south side then off the north side into a flag pole, landscaping and a tree. He was cited for failure to control.

— Kumi Lang, 70, Clewell Drive, Lisbon, was eastbound on Teegarden Road on a bicycle in Hanover Township at 7:45 a.m. Sunday and was struck by a vehicle driven by Matt C. Chappell, 48, Lakeview Drive, Hanoverton, who was attempting to pass. Lange was ejected from the bicycle and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. Chappell was cited for improper passing.

Lisbon

— While patrolling the Days Inn Hotel and Shale Tavern and Grill parking lot on state Route 154 Tuesday night, police witnessed a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan back into the Shale Tavern’s flashing arrow sign causing damage to the vehicle’s back windshield. Police spoke with the driver, Gary Clarence Crawford, Brooke, W.Va., who provided proof of insurance, and also spoke with the Shale manager who said he was not concerned since the sign was not damaged.

— Police were called to 221 E. Lincoln Way at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday for a report that a child was hanging out of the top window of the home. Police spoke with the child’s mother, Clarissa Cooley-Jordan, who said the children got in trouble the day before from their father for the same thing. Police told her to keep an eye on them so they don’t get hurt.

Columbiana

— The owner of Radio Shack in the Village Plaza reported at 4:51 p.m. Tuesday surveillance video showed a man and two women shoplifting electronic items from the store.

— A man reported at 11:06 a.m. Tuesday he purchased a vehicle and has not received it.

— A woman reported at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday she was touched inappropriately while at work on Heck Road.

— Someone reported anonymously at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday there was a junk motor vehicle behind 110 Union St. Police confirmed the complaint and a 10-day warning letter for the zoning violation was sent to the owner.

East Liverpool

— Dispatched Tuesday evening for a disturbance at an Avondale Street residence, officers reported finding Caitlyn McElroy, 20, Moore Street, standing on the sidewalk, screaming and swearing at residents in the yard and porch. McElroy told officers she was there to confront the father of her unborn child, saying she wasn’t leaving until she could “square up” with him and telling officers, “You’ll have to arrest me” because the sidewalk was “city property.” After being warned three times to leave, McElroy was arrested for disorderly conduct.

— Thompson Park Superintendent Shawn Rybaczenko reported Sunday evening a car in the parking lot with an unresponsive man inside. Patrolman Moose Ramsey arrived to find the vehicle running and the driver with his foot on the brake. Ramsey shut off the vehicle and the driver removed his foot from the brake, causing the vehicle to begin rolling backward, forcing Ramsey to enter and apply the brake with his hand to get the vehicle stopped. ASI paramedics arrived and checked the man’s sugar, finding it low, and he was transported to the hospital. His wife was contacted via the man’s phone.

— Officers were called Monday evening to a Bradshaw Avenue residence to remove Nate Carter and Angela Michael, arriving to find them sitting alongside the house. When resident Robin Richards began telling officers what happened, Michael reportedly began yelling and cussing at her. After going inside to retrieve her belongings, Michael was reportedly yelling at her father, saying she hated him and they were “all dead to her” unless they drove her and Carter to Youngstown. One of the officers advised Michael they were not going to tolerate any more of her entitled, child-like behavior and if she raised her voice again, she was going to jail, after which she quietly gathered her belongings so she and Carter could leave. They were cautioned not to return.

— Officers were called by security at East Liverpool City Hospital to assist with two people who were overdosed inside a vehicle. They were taken inside for treatment and their vehicle towed by First Class Towing. No other details were reported.

Salem Township

— Police Chief Dan Valentine issued a warning to residents regarding break-ins to vehicles and garages: lock the vehicle and remove valuables from the inside. Valentine received a report from Tina Hughes, Apple Ridge Road, Salem, at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday, that overnight someone entered their unattached garage and went through a car parked inside. It appeared someone also entered the attached sun room of the house. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time. At 8:09 a.m. Wednesday, Valentine received a report from Lacey Madison, Orchard Court, Salem, where it was reported two unlocked vehicles were entered overnight in the driveway and loose change and receipts were taken. Valentine said anyone seeing suspicious activity or having information is asked to contact him at 330-427-0808, or contact their local police department.

West Point

— The county sheriff’s office reported at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday there was an accident involving a semi truck on state Route 518 off Steubenville Pike and an ambulance was needed.

— The county sheriff’s office reported a medical on Dobson Road at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday. An 86-year-old man was having issues with pain medication.
