— Timothy Wilson, 40, of South Union Avenue, was cited for open container after an officer on patrol at 2:24 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Broadway noticed an intoxicated male stumbling while attempting to walk down the sidewalk. He started to walk away from officers and was detained for his and the officer’s safety. The male had an open container of liquor in his back pocket and after being cited, was given a courtesy ride home due to no cabs being available.

— Loud persons were reported at 2:14 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Hawley Avenue. The people said they were just listening to music and talking but would go inside for the evening.

— Police responded at 1:03 a.m. Sunday to the 500 block of Continental Drive for a child custody dispute. A woman said her son left and was with his father. Her visitation was until Friday and she wanted him back home. The father came to the police station and the son said he and his mother had an argument and he was concerned about staying with her, but was returned to her residence. Both parents agreed the son needed to stay with the mother until her visitation was over.

— An anonymous caller at 12:45 a.m. Sunday heard a suspicious noise in the vacant apartment next door in the 1000 block of West Perry Street and said she heard the back door open and close. Officers found all doors secure. The caller also said there appeared to be a light flashing in one of her furnace vents in her bedroom. Officers checked the vent for her and found no flashing light.

— An officer on patrol at 11:50 p.m. Saturday saw a vehicle at Memorial Park after closing and made contact, speaking with all the occupants. Consent was granted for a search but officers were unable to find anything illegal. Occupants were told the park was closed.

— Two suspicious vehicles were reported parked in the Dairy Queen lot in the 900 block of West State Street after hours at 10:22 p.m. Saturday. The occupants said they were talking after eating their ice cream.

— An intoxicated driver was reported at 10:21 p.m. Saturday in the area of Franklin Avenue and Southeast Boulevard. An officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop after a marked lanes violation. The driver was administered a field sobriety test, but was found to not be intoxicated.

— A driver was issued a written warning after a traffic stop at 10:18 p.m. Saturday for an equipment violation on East Pershing Street near Penn Avenue. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor. Nothing illegal was located inside the vehicle.

— Loud persons were reported at 9:47 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Jennings Avenue where an anonymous caller complained of children being loud. Upon arrival, the children were not being noisy. Several adults supervising the children were told about the complaint. Police were called again at 10:11 p.m. by the same caller about loud persons. None were observed.

— An officer on patrol at 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Sharp Avenue was approached by a male who said he located several items near a residence that had recently been torn down. The items were placed in the lost and found and the owner was advised.

— A backpack found at Centennial Park at 7:38 p.m. Saturday was placed in the police lost and found.

— Police were called to the 1700 block of East Third Street at 7:31 p.m. Saturday for a complaint of criminal trespass. The people were told to call police when the offense is occurring.

— A juvenile at 6:53 p.m. Saturday dropped off property at the police station that he found on a sidewalk while riding his bike.

— Police and fire department personnel responded at 6:37 p.m. Saturday to Oak Street between Southeast Boulevard and South Madison Avenue where a tree fell onto the road, along with power lines. Ohio Edison was contacted to respond, along with the city street crew. The tree was removed after Ohio Edison made sure the power line was safe.

— Loud music was reported at 5:01 p.m. Saturday on Granite Avenue. The music had been turned down but the resident admitted to playing music. He was advised of the complaint.

— A caller at 4:15 p.m. Saturday reported a solicitor going door-to-door in the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard. Police made contact and learned the male was collecting signatures for a ballot issue.

— A caller at 12:57 p.m. Saturday reported an animal inside a vehicle at Walmart. Officers found the windows partially down and noted the animal did not appear to be in any kind of distress.

— Police were called to Walmart for alleged road rage at 12:40 p.m. Saturday when a woman said a man hit her car with his shopping cart. There was no damage to her vehicle, but she wanted an apology. The man apologized and both went their separate ways.

— Megan Colegrove, 30, of Minerva, was cited for failure to yield after pulling across East State Street from the Home Depot drive to the Walmart drive and colliding with a westbound vehicle driven by Donna Rhodes, 71, of Columbiana, who was on East State Street and attempting to turn into Walmart at 12:37 p.m. Saturday. Colegrove told police she thought the other driver was turning into the lower section of driveway, but police noted that section is actually for exiting traffic from Walmart, not entering from East State Street.

— A woman in the 400 block of West Third Street reported at 11:32 a.m. Saturday that she found some of a neighbor’s lost property. Police were able to confirm with the neighbors who asked for the woman to keep the property until they returned home later.

— An illegally parked truck was reported at 10:57 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Woodland. The driver was advised.

— A woman in the 400 block of West Third Street reported at 10:01 a.m. Saturday that someone entered her vehicle and took several items. She was told her options.

— Police recovered a metal fence section on the sidewalk in the 500 block of East State Street at 7:48 a.m. Saturday and took it to the police station.
