County Sheriff

— Deputies were called to the area of Franklin Square Cemetery in Salem Township at 9:37 a.m. Sunday for a report of a woman yelling and a suspicious car. There was no one there when deputies arrived.

— Deputies were called to a home on Depot Road in Salem at 10:16 p.m. Friday for a report of a man threatening to harm himself. The man left the home before deputies arrived and was found by Alliance police in Alliance later that day.

— A deputy was called to the Southern Local at 11:19 p.m. Saturday for a report of a single-vehicle private property crash with no one located around the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

— Deputies were called to 42307 Rocky Run Road at 2:59 p.m. Saturday for a report of a verbal domestic. Deputies spoke with Danielle Burkhimer, who said her son was going to ride a four-wheeler and her husband Dave took the keys from him and the seat off the four-wheeler. She also told deputies there have been arguments in the past. Dave Burkhimer told deputies he was concerned that his wife’s brother was going to come to the home to assault him. Danielle told deputies that her brother was going to be helping her move out and would not cause any problems. She left the home for the night.

— A deputy patrolling an area of Elkrun Township at 6:15 a.m. Sunday came across a home that had an open front door. The deputy discovered the home appeared to be vacant.

Columbiana

— Ethan Surgenavic, Apache Lane, reported Saturday the window on his vehicle was broken out sometime during the night.

East Palestine

— A North Market Street resident reported anonymously at 11:49 a.m. Thursday there were several zoning violations at a neighboring home. Police checked up on the report at 1037 N. Market St. and found six junk vehicles, high grass and weeds, and numerous pieces of junk and a sign with offensive writing in the fenced-in back yard of the property. The owner will be sent a zoning violation notice.

— Zoning violation notices for high grass and weeds were sent to the following on Saturday: 480 E. Taggart St., 255 Alice St., and 380 S. Market St.

East Liverpool

— Kaleena Crane reported at 6:44 a.m. Tuesday that Dakota Baughman, the father of her child, had just assaulted her at her home on West Seventh Street. Crane told police Baughman was upset with her over where their child was going to stay while they went to work, and that while she was walking up the stairs he pushed her against the wall and then kicked her down the stairs causing her to hurt her right forearm. She also reported Baughman would not let her remove the child from the car seat and was shaking the car seat while the baby was still seated. She said she was able to get the child and lock both of them inside the bathroom but Baughman pushed his way into the bathroom and took the child from her and her phone and left the home. Crane also told police this was not the first time Baughman had assaulted her but it was the first time she has followed through with charges. She said that the child was not injured but was distressed by the incident. Baughman, 22, was arrested for domestic violence.

— An officer watching the Vista Motel on Edwards Street at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday due to the high volume of drug complaints from nearby residents saw a woman exit the motel from one of the rooms in question. Lindsey Beebout was asked who she was there to see, and she told police she could not remember. Police checked Beebout for warrants and found that she had a warrant for failure to appear. She was then arrested and taken to the county jail. During the investigation police also saw Beebout throw something as she was walking away from police and confronted her about it. She said she threw nothing, and would not listen to commands to comply with police. Police checked the area and found a woman’s wallet that contained needles and drug equipment as well as a birth certificate belonging to Beebout. Evidence was collected from the wallet and the needles were discarded into a biohazard container.

— While on their way to 1019 Ephraim St. to investigate a tip that residents were living there without water, police saw one tenant drive by in a vehicle with a cracked windshield. Police stopped the vehicle and found three men inside. The passenger in the rear of the passenger side of the vehicle continued to ignore police directions and commands and while being asked to step from the vehicle attempted to conceal suspected rugs. The passenger, identified as Zach Cavalcanti, 19, continued to withhold his name but his identity was later confirmed with a photo obtained online. He was charged for obstructing official business and will later be charged for the drug offense. Also arrested was Tyrone Franklin Crafter, 23.

— Mary Bragg, Pennsylvania Avenue, reported at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, a man entered the home assaulted her grandson, Kenneth Bragg. Police spoke with the man, Lonnie Cunningham, who said that he did go to the Bragg Home but had been invited inside, and that he never went upstairs but that Kenneth came downstairs and they went outside at which point words were exchanged and a physical altercation took place. Cunningham told police that Kenneth hit him with a brick. Police provided statement forms to both and advised them to seek assistance from the law director.

— Jamie Clutter, 38, Belmont Avenue, East Liverpool, was in a postal truck on Dresden Avenue at noon Friday and attempting to turn right onto Trentvale Street and was struck from behind by Samantha J. Moore, 27, Independence Square, Wellsville, who then continued on. Moore was later found by police and cited for assured clear distance and leaving the scene.

St. Clair Township

— Katrina Rodgers reported at 4 p.m. Thursday she was threatened at a local department store on Dray Lane.

— Dianna K. Hazelet, 59, Ohio Avenue, was stopped in the right lane of Dresden Avenue waiting to make a right turn onto state Route 170 at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Salem

— Carley A. Woodworth, 24, South Union Avenue, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension, failure to yield at a stop sign and leaving the scene of a crash after officers located on Saturday following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at North Howard Avenue and West Fourth Street.

— Kimberly Irene Edie, 24, 378 1/2 E. Fourth St., Salem, was charged with endangering children and possession of drug paraphernalia when officers responded to her home at 3 a.m. Saturday after she called the police department several times without reporting a problem and found her making statements about someone inside the house trying to harm her. Officers checked the residence but only found Edie and her two infant children. Edie admitted to taking drugs earlier and said she was hallucinating and paranoid. Drug paraphernalia was also found in plain view. Due to Edie’s state and the poor conditions of the home, the children were turned over to a family member.

— An officer responded to a 400 block Ohio Avenue home at 9:31 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported child abuse at a neighboring home. The officer contacted the occupants of the other home and the matter was turned over to the proper agency.

— A South Lincoln Avenue resident reported at 12:02 p.m. Saturday that while walking his dog on the trails at Waterworth Memorial Park of Sunset Street a woman kept making remarks toward him that he found harassing. He said he did not know her name and was advised to call the police immediately if it happens again so police can talk to the woman.

— Officers responded to a 2500 block Bentley Drive business at 12:08 p.m. Saturday where a complainant reported finding an unknown substance and a syringe in one of the rooms. The items were confiscated and turned over to the drug task force.

— An officer responded to a 2200 block East State Street business office at 12:56 p.m. Saturday in reference to drug paraphernalia, but was unable to find anything.

— Officers responded to a report of animal cruelty in the 500 block of East State Street at 1:54 p.m. Saturday but were unable to find any animals in distress.

— An officer responded to SRMC at 2:46 p.m. Saturday where a mentally ill patient told employees he was wanted by the police. The officer assured him he was not wanted.

— An officer responded to a 300 block East Third Street home at 5:20 p.m. Saturday where the resident said she was away but believed a man she knows was there. The officer was unable to make contact with anyone at the home and advised the resident to call police when she returned home to have an officer check the residence.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 5:59 p.m. Saturday in reference to someone in the emergency room with a gun. The officers secured the gun and charges are pending.

— An officer responded to a 700 block West State Street business at 7:50 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported a female customer had taken an item without paying and fled in a vehicle westbound.

— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 7:59 p.m. Saturday in reference to several apparent juveniles smoking marijuana. Upon arrival the officers found several juveniles smoking cigarettes and detected the odor of marijuana. All cigarette packs were confiscated and one was found to have marijuana in it. A female juvenile admitted it was hers and she was charged with delinquency. The juveniles were held until their parents picked them up.

— A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle for a moving violation at Ohio Avenue and Oak Street at 8:55 p.m. Saturday in which a K-9 officer detected narcotics. Contraband was recovered. The driver, Robert B. German, 33, Prospect Street, Salem, and his passenger, Cassandra L. Burke, 26, Tower Road, Salem, were both cited for possession of marijuana.

— Officers responded to a 500 block South Broadway Avenue business at 9:50 p.m. Saturday in reference to a person to be removed and found the man in question leaving the building. They spoke with the manager who said the man had been inside yelling at his girlfriend and was asked to leave, but just stood outside the door. The man was advised to leave the property for the night.

— An officer responded to a 200 block East Fourth Street home at 10:30 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported a neighbor had been making threatening remarks toward her and trying to intimidate her. The neighbor was warned to cease contact with the resident.

— Officers responded to a 600 block North Lincoln Avenue home at 1:14 a.m. Sunday in reference to a person to be removed. They spoke with a resident who reported a woman had been at the residence but left prior to their arrival. They were unable to find the woman.

— A patrolling officer observed a vehicle parked in Centennial Park at 1:37 a.m. Sunday. The driver and passenger said they were unaware of the park hours and left without incident.

— A Cunningham Road resident reported at 1:43 a.m. Sunday her friend’s boyfriend had struck her in the face several times while she was visiting her friend. The matter was forwarded the the prosecutor’s office for review.

— An officer responded to a 600 block West Wilson Street home at 1:54 a.m. Sunday where the resident reported a waterline break, but it was found to be a large leak in the hot water heater. The fire department responded to shut off the water and the resident was advised to have it fixed as soon as possible.

— Officers responded to the intersection of East Pershing Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 7:36 a.m. Sunday where the traffic light was reportedly not turning green for eastbound traffic. An officer directed traffic then monitored the light for several cycles without incident. The city electrician was notified.

— An East Third Street resident reported on station at 10:18 a.m. Sunday a sex offense incident. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 11:59 a.m. Sunday in reference to criminal damage to a vehicle. They spoke with the individuals involved and advised them to provide written statements at the station.

— A West Perry Street resident reported at 12:59 p.m. Sunday that her soon-to-be ex-husband had gone to her place of employment in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue and yelled at her in a violent manner through the locked glass door.
