Lisbon hydrant flushing extended
The Lisbon Water Department will be extending the annual flushing of fire hydrants through May 15. This will be the west side of town. Water customers may notice short periods of lower pressure, and some discoloration is possible in and around the areas where the work is occurring. Meeting with power plant officials
The Yellow Creek Township trustees and fiscal office will meet and greet with the future power plant officials at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wellsville library. They will plan a public informational meeting with a date to be determined.
Salem Historical Society open house
SALEM — Salem Historical Society will host an Open House on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests are invited to enter through the Pearce House at 208 S. Broadway Ave. and explore the entire campus free of charge.
Visitors will have access to all displays, complimentary light refreshments, and a gift shop filled with unique Salem treasures and exclusive America250 souvenirs.
Two new displays are being featured.
— Take a historical look back at 1976 with the unveiling of items from the Liberty Centre 50-year Time Capsule. A special video presentation will bring Salem’s Bicentennial celebration to life through historic photos and memorabilia.
— The Grand Theatre commissioned painting is now on display. Be among the first to see a stunning new large-scale painting of the Grand Theatre’s interior, created by local artist Amanda Huk. Meet the artist in person and hear the story behind this long-envisioned project, brought to life through the dedication of community volunteers, David Shivers, Bill Ward, and Joy Cable.
The Salem Historical Society is one of the community’s valued asset, created and supported by local people, entirely volunteer-run and dedicated to preserving the stories that make Salem unique. First-time visitors are often amazed by the size of the campus and the depth of its exhibits.
— Open House will continue the first and third Sundays, May through October, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is always free for members; non-members are $6 per adult during the regular season.
St. Paul Parish ‘Ministry Fair’
St. Paul Parish in Salem will hold a “Ministry Fair” on Saturday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 at noon. This parish event is designed to showcase various ministries, encourage volunteerism (stewardship of time and talent), and express gratitude to current volunteers. The event will be held in the school cafeteria (enter in back of school) at 935 E. State St., 330-332-0336. Enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card plus a 50/50 raffle, all to benefit St. Paul Parish.
Drive-thru Chicken BBQ dinner
Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave Ext., North Lima, will host a Drive-thru Chicken BBQ dinner on Saturday, May 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. Dinner includes half a BBQ chicken, baked potato, green beans, applesauce, roll and butter, and pie for $15.
