Rain barrel to rain garden
Lepper Library and Ohio State University Extension: Columbiana County will present “From the Rain Barrel to the Rain Garden” from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Lepper Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way. This program will cover the basics of water barrel maintenance and use, and will demonstrate how to create a “rain garden” using conserved resources.
Salem Utilities meeting
The Salem Utilities Commission will hold a special meeting Thursday. Utilities Superintendent Butch Donnalley announced Monday that the commission would meet in a special meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday. Donnalley said that the meeting was being called so the commissioners could discuss and vote on potentially authorizing him to purchase a new vehicle for the department.
EP Souper Bowl Party
The East Palestine Friends of the Library will hold its annual Souper Bowl Party at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library, 309 N. Market St. Bring a soup and its recipe to share with attendees. All ages are invited. Owen and John Jurjavcic will be the guest speakers. There will also be giveaways. Dessert, beverages, and paper products will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Call the library at 330-426-3778 to register.
Mahoning Valley Kids Career Day
Families around the Mahoning Valley are invited to attend the 5th Annual Kids Career Fair presented by Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Valley STEM Academy and City Machine Technologies Inc. The event will be held at MCCTC, 7300 N. Palmyra Road in Canfield, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Kids Career Fair was developed to showcase the great career opportunities in the area that many children and even parents might not know about. The Kids Career Fair coincides with February’s Career and Technical Schools Month, says John Zehentbauer, superintendent at MCCTC. Businesses are being asked to provide a fun table activity for children during the event, as well as pass out giveaways. The Kids Career Fair is free and open to the public.
