Lepper Library adds to Morning Journal digital archives with assistance from the Lisbon Community Foundation

The Lepper Library, with a financial donation from the Lisbon Community Foundation, added newspapers to its Morning Journal digital archives.

The library was able to digitize 67 rolls of microfilm for availability on its website. Access lepperlibrary.org, –they are the first item under the Digital Materials tab.

The donation allowed the library to digitize nine years of newspapers. This brings the total library collection to include local newspapers from 1810-1991 and 2000-2024. Some of these newspapers included are Aurora, Buckeye State, Daily Patriot, Lisbon Evening Journal, Morning Journal, New Lisbon Journal, Ohio Patriot, Republican Leader and Western Palladium.

“There is still a nine-year gap we hope to digitize as funds and donations make it possible. Making local history accessible is one of the most important roles a library has especially in small rural areas,” says Marcy Kaiser, Director of Lepper Library.

The Lisbon Community Foundation donation was received in March 2025. The library and the Lepper Library Board of Trustees are very grateful to the Foundation for its support in helping preserve newspapers and make them accessible to the public.
