Lisbon clean-up day Saturday
LISBON — Lisbon will hold a community clean-up day this weekend after the village council recently decided to re-establish an annual clean-up day in the village. Curbside pick-up of unwanted items will take place Saturday.
Mayor Peter Wilson said via Facebook that all items are to be placed on the curb lawn by Friday night and that the company hired by the village will only make one pass. The service is only for Lisbon residents with the trash hauler only picking up items inside the village limits.
The following items will not be accepted: unsolidified paint, liquids, whole tires, friable asbestos, CFC’s (items containing Freon such as AC units, refrigerators/freezers, humidifiers), electronic-waste (including TVs, computers, printers, etc), all batteries, mercury switches and thermostats, ammunition and explosives, radioactive, pressurized, volatile, highly flammable, toxic, hazardous or infectious materials, trees, limbs, shrubs, lawn and garden debris, gravel, rocks, ash (burnt houses and dirt).
Mattresses, couches and other furniture do not need to be wrapped.
Next month, the village will hold an e-waste collection day. That event is set for Saturday, July 19 in the county courthouse parking lot at the corner of West Washington and South Beaver Streets.
During the e-waste collection, GreenBoard IT will accept old televisions, monitors, printers, computers and cell phones with a fee charged to take certain items. Items that can be disposed of at a cost are TVs: ($20), CRT Monitors ($20) and printers ($10). Unlike the Saturday’s community day, the e-waste collection is open to both residents and non-residents of the village.
