WB Area Ladies Ruritan Club

NORTH GEORGETOWN – The West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club met April 21.

Jean Zion introduced Brad Stephens, director of the Salem Public Library. Helen Carey contacted Andrew Carnegie for money to build a library and he gave $2,000 in 1904. Charles Burchfield painted a large piece of work in the library, which is open Monday through Saturday. The library has several services and programs including seed exchange, choose a puzzle, book sales, free individual tutoring for all grades and book delivery in Salem. Programs are online so everyone can participate.

The meeting began with President Robin Mayer saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. Members then recited the Ruritan Pledge. Viola Blanchard read a devotion.

The club has been invited to participate in the “Build Your Dollar” for Ruritans next year.

Zion and Joann Pinkerton were the hostesses.

The next meeting will be held May 19.

Starting at $2.99/week.
