CCRTA holds May meeting

LISBON — The May meeting of the Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association was held at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church. Nancy Dicken provided the invocation with Jerry Barnes conducting the business meeting.
Three new members were welcomed: Cindy Collins, Mike Schlais and Chris Laughlin.
Denise Marcelt introduced a new division of the RSVP organization for Columbiana County. It is called the Golden Friends Program. Volunteers are needed to visit and support homebound seniors. Anyone interested in being trained to volunteer may contact Paige Fortner at 330-271-6622.
The guest speaker was Ohio State Representative to the 79th District, Monica Robb Blasdel. She proudly announced the passage of her House Bill 206 that provides safety for teachers and students. Robb Blasdel also discussed the state budget and various education issues.
The CCRTA donated needed products to the Christina House for Domestic Violence Victims. Elaine Kloss, representative from the agency, accepted the donations.
CCRTA meetings will resume in September.
