For the last several weeks, the first grade classrooms have been preparing to convert into donut shops as students explore the ideas of goods and services, producers and consumers and currency in exchange for items.
As part of their “research and development,” students made a visit to White House Fruit Farms to see how a real bakery operates.
After their trip, the classes decided to purchase their donuts from White House to “resell” the product in their stores. Each classroom named their bakery and served donuts to their families that used pretend currency to make their purchases.
