Beaver Local senior Evan McGown was recognized as the Calcutta Rotary March Student of the Month.

He is the son of Mike and Alicia McGown.

In high school, he is a four-year member of the marching band, a three-year member of the track team, the club treasurer for Leo club and Science club. Evan is also a member of NHS, a boys state delegate, and most recently a state qualifier for envirothon.

He has also committed many hours to the community at various volunteer activities while also earning the prestigious Eagle Scout recognition. He said community service has impacted how he lives and looks at life.

Evan plans to continue his journey into college attending Youngstown State University to major in Civil Engineering.
